Playing by the Rules (The Players, 2)

This is such a great book there's love and heartbreak and friendship and it has everything to make it a great book.

Ugh… I HATE the double standard of “I can have whoever I want but you, little sister must remain untouched, even if the girls I’m taking home sometimes are actually younger than you.” The only thing I despise more? The third act break-up. This book has both. Now, I know I gave it four stars. I did so because; if you can get past that first issue I mentioned and just focus on the story itself (which is hard to do sometimes because they don’t let you forget that rule) it is a fun, steamy story filled with some of life’s most basic ups and downs. Also, the third act break-up thing is pretty common in the romcom genre so if you are like me, and don’t like it at all, you’ve probably at least realized by now that they aren’t going anywhere, so we may as well get used to them. On top of all of those things, I think I expected a little bit more from this book. I didn’t like it as much as i liked the first book in the series. There was a bit of backtracking, and while we saw everything from the view point of Blair and Cam instead of Knox and Jo, certain parts of this book were a bit redundant. I do want to read Ruby and Ace’s story. I’m looking forward to seeing where this author takes that.

And I’m happy to report - Cam and Blair did not disappoint.I can tell you one thing, I was not prepared for how complex Camden Fields was. On the outside he looks calm, steady, and sure, but deep down he’s broken, lost, and struggling to feel worthy. Enter Blair Maguire.Blair has loved Camden Fields since she met him for the first time her senior year of high school. But because of the fact Cam is her brother’s best friend, he’s never looked at her as anything outside of his best friend’s littler sister.New to Colorado State, Blair has her sites set in Cam and she’s not going down without a fight. She makes it crystal clear to Cam where she stands and what she wants: him.Finally tensions boil over, and the two of them give into the undeniable chemistry between the two of them. Blair desperately doesn’t want to be Cam’s dirty little secret and Cam isn’t ready to take the next step. Blair ultimately walks away, telling Cam to figure it out or she’s going to have to move on. And from that point on this book is down 👏🏼 right 👏🏼 addictive 👏🏼.This is a slow burn but it’s worth it🥵Cam…that man is just utterly PERFECTION 🥵🔥“His loyalty to my brother is admirable but… I want him to be more loyal to me.”The angst. THE FREAKING ANGST. Omg. These two had me feeling all the things.Oh my poor angry guy Cam 🥺 his feelings were all over the place. I could see how much he cared for Blair but he was so afraid to let himself have a good thing. 😭And Blair?! I love how she pursues him so hard, he didn’t stand a chance 😆 and I loved how she would call him out on his BS!These two broke my heart there for a little bit… but the heartbreak I felt was so worth it in the end 🥹💕“Her. Blair. My sweet little Bumblebee.”100/10 recommend this entire series…run don’t walk and read it! I absolutely promise you won’t be disappointed. ❤️

Gosh the back and fourth, the tension! Such a cute little steamy read. It’s like rom com with a hint of smut and I loved every second!

She makes sure to push him to his limits in every way she can until he finally gives in to their mutual attraction.If you love a football romance with lots of banter, angst, and amazing chemistry then you will love Playing By The Rules.
