This chess set is an excellent value for anyone who wants an inexpensive chess set to take on trips or to chess meets. Also compact enough for storing and using at space challenged apartments or studios. The hollow plastic pieces are weighted with magnets and come with felt bottoms. The set is just as described by Yellow Mountain. The mat unrolled and lay flat without any issues. I bought my set after viewing sets brought to games by other players. Excellent features and excellent value.

My son loves this chessboard! I bought it for him for Chess Club since a regulation chess board was needed. The weight is good. The magnet strength is okay. I love that everything wraps up in one bag. I do feel like the bag could be a little bit wider to accommodate a scorebook. Or whatever that book is that they use writing down the moves. The one I bought does not fit. I would say the quality is decent! There are quite a few people at Chess Club that have nicer boards, but this one is relative to the price. My son is 11 1/2 and this is very easy for him to pack up on the go. I feel like it’s durable and won’t get damaged.

It's the best affordable chess set on the market. You can easily carry it with you to chess matches as you please. There are no defects, smells, or problems with the set I received. Really glad that I bought this product.

Nicely weighted, magnetic pieces with felt bases plus a good mat board that does not curl when unrolled! The carrying case looks small, but it holds everything. There is a zippered compartment for the pieces and a padded strap that I assume will fit a tournament timer. Me, I'll be using that area to hold a box of my chess variant pieces. I'm looking forward to taking this set on vacation!

If you want a chess set that's better than a $10 set with hollow pieces and a folded cardboard board, this will do very nicely. But it wasn't what I was hoping for so I returned it.I wasn't expecting an awesome chess set, but I wanted pieces that felt weighted in my hand and were black and white. The white was more of a pearl off-white, and most of the pieces felt too light. The pawns almost felt hollow. The board was fine but a little thin. There were no defects so I'd say it was worth what I paid for it.

I ordered this chess set for my children. I learned how to play on a Staunton design set--I always liked the look and feel of the set. I was very pleased when I received the set as it was very similar to the one I had learned on. The weight of the pieces is adequate and my children have no problems confusing the pieces with one another (a problem with many sets I have seen). I don't like playing with the roll up chess board at home as I find a regular board is better but the roll up board is great to travel with.Very pleased with this chess set!

This is a well made regulation chess set with sturdy playing pieces, a reasonably good flexible mat, and a reasonably well made carrying bag. There are bags for the chess pieces and extra queens. The only missing Item would be a clear plastic tube to hold the mat. I am currently keeping it rolled with 3 pieces of double sided velcro.

I have 5 or 6 chess boards, but this is my very favourite to play on. It’s nice and big with pieces that are easy to distinguish from one another. The green squares are pleasant to my eye and the notation for the ranks and files is a nice feature for recreating games and puzzles from books or other annotations. It all packs up well into a useful carrying case, making it easy to transport. I’m very pleased with this purchase.
