Could i use the mondo grass as a lawn

Mondo grass (Ophiopogon Japonicus), dwarf or regular can work, however the Monkey Grass (Liriope) is pretty large and bold and I don't think it's a good idea.

How far a part do you plant them for a sidewalk border?

They come fairly small (3" pot) and will get fairly big- around 18-24" tall and round. I planted mine 30" apart and will wait at least a year for them to fill in.

Unfortunately yes, we never had a lot of trouble with them eating liriope until this winter. I suppose it's not their favorite, but hunger will allow their fast buds to be less choosy. Now have to use chicken wire to protect the plants we want to ship out from being a midnight snack. So sorry I don't have a better answer. Wolfgang GARDENS OY VEY
