Morgan should've lived
The only dislike about this movie that she died at the end of the movie

One Of 2016's Greatest Hidden Gems
Out deep in the forest is a secluded estate that's actually a corporate testing sight. Inside is Morgan (Anna Taylor Joy), a fully synthesized human lifeform being studied by a team of researchers. When an unexpectedly violent incident occurs, the company behind the program decides that an evaluation of Morgan must be made to decide whether or not to terminate the test subject. Two experts from outside are brought in to conduct the evaluation with the doctors and employees already there. Opinions differ sharply on what should be done, and the movie presents the question of what the researchers on Morgan's side can do, if anything, to protect their charge if the majority of experts decide to terminate. As the viewer learns more about Morgan (who is gender-ambiguous despite being played by a female; several characters in the movie refer to Morgan as 'he', others as 'she') we're also presented with the mystery of whether Morgan has means of her/his own of turning the tables on the scientists if it comes to that.Morgan has a sympathetic portrayal of the title character even while keeping open the question of whether Morgan is really 'good' or 'bad'. The character has lived all her/his life in the compound, exposed only to influences the scientists want her/him exposed to. Has this nurtured or warped Morgan? The movie also manages to keep a good balance concerning most of the researchers. Although the willingness of the group as a whole towards casually terminating a life as a 'failed experiment' casts them in the role of bad guys, some of them don't really act like bad guys. And a number of them, who see Morgan as more than an experiment, lobby very hard on her/his behalf. The movie is frequently reminiscent of Ex Machina, and sometimes also of Splice and Prometheus (all of which I recommend) while still maintaining its own identity. A lot of really good movies in 2016 didn't receive the audience they deserved. Morgan is among the best of them.

Well done
This was a well done movie. This is far more drama than action which worked very well. We learn that a corporation is trying to create artificial people, as weapons of course (standard Hollywood plot, unfortunately). Morgan is the next step in their attempts to make their artificial creations act more human. She seriously wounds one of her teachers prompting the corporation to send a risk management assessor to determine what to do with Morgan and the project itself. Those involved in the project are vested in Morgan both scientifically and emotionally. Even the injured member refuses to blame Morgan. The actors did a terrific job and their emotions and opinions were believable. Script, directing and production were excellent. Morgan is a tragic figure. Made to be a weapon, her emotions are confusing her causing moral dilemmas that she is not equipped to deal with. Being raised in social isolation was a significant flaw in the corporation's plans. She does not having a real functional understanding of emotions. When they decide to terminate Morgan (and the project) all hell breaks loose. I won't spoil this further. I did not give "5" stars, which this movie could have easily been, as the ending had not surprises. A predictable Hollywood ending that spoiled it for me.

Fails to deliver on a great setup
Started with a great premise but fails to deliver on it. The setup was the best part of the movie. We begin with an isolated research facility where something has gone wrong. They have manufactured a proto-human, the titular Morgan. The scientists have become too attached to their creation and have lost their objectivity. That failure will have disastrous consequences later on. The corporation that paid for this big lab and all its staff dispatches a fixer to get in there, determine what has gone wrong and, well, fix it.There were some things I appreciated about this movie, like the cook. His character was interesting and I felt the worst about his fate near the end of the movie. And I really liked Paul Giamatti as the psychiatrist. He has a small part, but as they say, he is not a small actor. The end of his character's role marks the place where I quit enjoying the movie. Even with some things to admire, after the great setup, the movie devolves into a chase picture. Bad guys chasing the good guys, or something like that. Partway through the chase, I began to suspect the twist. As the chase develops, I had the twist figured out long before it was revealed. I won't spoil it here, but it is very similar to twists in better movies than this one, going as far back as Blade Runner.Okay for escapist entertainment, but could have been so much more.

decent sci-fi thriller
This is an earth-based, sci-fi thriller, with some psychological suspense sprinkled on top. Anya Taylor-Joy is great, as she always is. While the plot is mildly original (although, perhaps a variation of the Ex Machina movie from a few years earlier), the underlying structure is a bit formulaic. However, it was still an enjoyable watch. My main complaint would be that the filmmaker never really establishes the motivation for WHY all of the secondary characters behave the way they do, with regards to the Morgan character. One of them, perhaps, but all of them, no. It sort of flies in the face of logic. Kate Mara was also good and pulled off her role well.

No sexuality and likes to hit people...
Sci fi tale of 13 year old girl? and team members sent to evaluate her transgressions toward other team members .Genetically engineered Morgan is childlike and un-nerving When she is targeted for termination. she learns a few mma skills to resist the slime balls In the end the newly appointed GE is proved perfect. This movie could have been great, but like so many others it fell by the wayside...

Edizione bluray
