Oregon 55-182 Bump Knob and Spring Assembly Replaces Ryobi 181468, Black

Once again I have a machine that is discontinued, and so are its repair parts. I have an corded Ryobi string trimmer that you can change the attachments and make it an edger, and so forth. When I went to the HD to get a replacement blade for the edger and replacement bump knob for the string trimmer they only had parts for the new, gas version. Amazon to the rescue! This one fits perfectly, and my yard is once again ship-shape. I have learned my lesson. The next time I make a big purchase I am going to buy its replacement parts right then.***Update. It is difficult to bump and advance the line. Maybe because the spring is stronger than the original?

Glad I could find the bump knob on Amazon. Thought I was going to buy another weed trimmer.

It lasted me 5 summers before having to buy another one.

Worked ok in my 15 yr old Ryobi 775R trimmer I purchased April 1996. It is different then the original setup. The original was a visible square nut recessed in a low profile knob. This one is fully contained and therefore a little taller profile but seems to work ok. The only reason that is a concern is it did advance the line a time or two by accident since the knob sticks down farther.

Fits my trimmer (ryobi 725r), but is very hard to bump. My last one would bump easy, but maybe that's because this one is new and now broken in yet.

This knob worked great for my older Ryobi model 132r electric trimmer. In fact, had I waited much longer to replace it I might not have been able to get the old knob off -- there was only about 1/3" of knob remaining! But once you get a grip on it, it's easy to unscrew the old knob and thread on the new one. All the other parts on the head of the trimmer looked fine, just the knob needed to be replaced. I used it last weekend and it worked fine!

It was good to find this simple little part for my trusty 20+ year old Ryobi weed beater. I had even gone so far as to replace the head with one of the newer Aero-Flex heads. However, I found that the replacement cost for the Aero-Flex vanes was more than I wanted to pay, although they were somewhat faster to replace. The speed bump does the job and I'll just take care to bump it less on pavement and more on the soil. I'm happy with it.
