Great Resource Leading Those Struggling with Tragedy to Hope in Jesus
Where is God in the middle of tragedy? How do you respond when your "Worst" moment happens to you? These are some of the questions that Cameron Cole explores in his book Therefore I Have Hope: 12 Truths that Comfort, Sustain, and Redeem in Tragedy. Therefore I Have Hope comes from Cole's own life experience of tragedy in losing his son who died in his sleep. The book takes readers alongside the Cole family through their own processing of grief, allowing God to put the pieces together, and seeing the faithfulness of God in the middle of tragedy. Through this process, Cole gives 12 truths of hope and guidance that their family clung to that readers can also embrace in the middle of what Cole terms the "Worst."In this book, Cole has provided a resource that doesn't hide from the hard questions yet leads readers faithfully to a gospel-driven response to tragedy. The constant reminders of God's presence, power, and sufficiency in all moments of life lead readers back to the true source of survival in trying times - Jesus. Therefore I Have Hope presents the 12 truths through the framework of a process of grief beginning with the initial shock leading to the new normal and the long haul. This layout makes this a great book for those currently walking through their "Worst" or those who are seeking to minister to people in tragedy.I am grateful to Cameron Cole for his vulnerability and willingness to let the world into the depths of his family's hurt to share the hope that they have found in Christ. Therefore I Have Hope will be a great source of hope and encouragement to many.

True Comfort for All
This book is one of my favorites of the year! The fact it is written by someone who has experienced what would be any parents' Worst nightmare - the death of a child - automatically gives credibility. But by no means is this just for the one who has suffered such extreme lost. The gospel truths and hope to hang on to are for all of us who experience some degree of suffering simply from living in a fallen broken world. The book is divided into 3 sections: The Initial Shock, The New Normal and The Long Haul. In each Cameron weaves his personal story with Biblical narrative and scripture to direct our eyes to Christ. He very clearly explains why Jesus' resurrection matters in our suffering. And I also found particularly helpful his articulation of why God's providence is good news when it comes to suffering. But every chapter is filled with such truth it would be hard to pick a favorite. I will be referring back to this book over and over again, and handing it out to many others.

This book needs a permanent place on your shelf
My gosh-Just finished and SO enjoyed this book! It is deep from a human personal perspective as well as rich with Scripture that ties in beautifully with a tragedy as parents we all pray we will never have to experience. Tears will flow with this book as Mr. Cole is courageously transparent in describing his Worst. But, always uplifting and overriding is the Divine Perspective, Grace and especially Redemption of God who "promises that every element of our lives fits into a grand, redemptive story whose significance and beauty are far greater than we conceive." My Worst is not nearly as tragic as the Cole's, but no matter your Worst, this book gives meaning and puts it all into a true perspective.

Add it to your library!
I read this book in two sittings in less than 24 hours and then ordered 6 more copies to give to others! I loved it THAT much! I know that I will return to this book many times in the future for reference in times of need or pain. This book is not “over your head” type theology, or preachy, but walks you through how a loving father lost his precious son, and is now walking in the victory and joy of Christ. This book is for every living human, Christian believer or non-believer, who has ever experienced loss or pain, which unfortunately is or will be all of us at some point in our lives. Such a powerful, encouraging and awesome work!!

A must-read for anyone counseling those in grief.
This is a book that councils directly from the word of God and speaks to those who have a significant loss in their lives. It isn't a bunch of platitudes but faces the hard questions posed by those who have lost a loved one especially a child. It offers hope through the gospel Jesus Christ.

Hope for all of life’s struggles or tragedy.
This book is incredible. It’s a lifeline. It’s a roadmap. I don’t honestly feel like I have experienced my Worst yet but it has helped me understand some of the difficult challenges of my life in a more healthy, Biblical way. I think every Believer should read this even in preparation for tragedy. I plan on buying more copies for friends. Very well done.

A Painful and Powerful Witness
This book is a painful and powerful witness of the grace of Christ that shines in the darkest seasons of our lives. The title sums it up well: when death takes those we love, when disasters destroy our lives, when we feel like we have no future, because Christ is crucified and risen for us, therefore we have hope. And that hope is as certain and unwavering as the empty tomb and the resurrected body of Jesus.

Beautiful, beautiful book
When you’re faced with the horror of a sudden loss, it feels as though someone has stamped a giant fist into the jigsaw of your life, sending the pieces scattering everywhere. When this happened to us, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves so at first we just focused on actually breathing and surviving, but wow, in the first few weeks, this book was an enormous comfort too. Cameron writes with all the raw honesty of a Christian who has had his heart ripped out but is juggling that with a knowledge of who he knows God to be. There are no cheezy platitudes, just a beautifully honest re-telling of his family’s journey into ‘the worst’, combined with the beauty they found in the depths of suffering. I would 100% give this book to anyone who is grieving. It is like pure balm to a hurting heart.Thank you Cameron for opening up your pain and sharing this most private thing in order to help others.
