In my opinion brilliant.
I have owned this movies since it was first released on DVD. If I remember it got in my opinion an un-deserved pasting. The story regarding a talking gorilla and a lost diamond mine, oh yes and an erupting volcano was in my mind a brilliant adventure movie that keeps my interest from start to finish. I have lost count of the number of times I watched it on a good quality DVD I have just watched it on a much better quality Blu-ray disc. I consider this transfer to be well worth the money I paid for it. By the way it was from an original novel by Michael Crichton, what more could you ask for.

Killer Gorrillas
An expedition into the Congo to return a talking gorilla to the jungle and find a missing scientist and some diamonds goes wrong. This is trying to be an old fashioned adventure movie and almost works with an over the top performance from Tim Curry and decent performances from Laura Linney and Ernie Hudson and Joe Don Baker with wooden performances from everyone else outacted by a talking gorilla called Amy. Daft but fun 90's action adventure movie not to be taken seriously.

Pretty good action
Decent, though a tad dated action packed thriller based on a Michael Creighton book of the same name. A team of scientists searching for diamonds and a lost city find a lot more than they were looking for. Plenty of action.

Great adventure
This is one of my favorite adventure movies. It is packed with plenty of action, cool special effects, as well as just the right amount of humor. It is a tale about a man who trains a gorilla to speak using sign language. The two then join up with an interesting assortment of other characters as they go on safari in Africa both to return the gorilla to the wild, and find a lost diamond mine. The movie is fast paced with a nice soundtrack.Ernie Hudson, of Ghost Busters fame, is terrific as the safari guide Monroe. His character is always cool, calm, and collected. He obviously had a lot of fun during the filming. Tim Curry, as the explorer Herkermer Homolka, is a delight to watch. Dylan Walsh, playing the gorilla's handler, is very believable in the role. Laura Linney, playing a representative of a large company going after the diamonds, does a good job of acting except when she has interactions with the head of the company, played by Joe Baker. When they get together it's like 2 middle schoolers fighting. However, their screen time together is very limited. Spoiler alert: the main gorilla in the movie, named Amy, is a person dressed in a gorilla costume. At first glance she appears a bit different than a real gorilla. However, after watching her for a few minutes I quickly forget about the differences and simply enjoy the story. The blu ray transfer was very well done. Both the sound and picture quality are very good.

We liked the movie.
All of the actors make this a movie worth adding to our collection. The scenery is interesting, too.

It works!
I’m always hesitant of buying older movies online that we’re VHS turned into DVD because I find they don’t work, or there dubbed from another language but this one works perfectly fine. Good movie, glad I purchased.
