Cuts 0.049 & 0.051 Music Wire Nice!
I was using compound side cutters for cutting my wire lengths and just got tired of the sharp point it left on the end. I read the reviews on this cutter and decided to try them. I am most impressed with them as they cut the wire easier, much cleaner, no wedge point on the end, and no flying wire ends! I use them for 0.049 and 0.051 ASTM A228 music wire.

Perfect tool for cutting small music wire
If ever there were a proverbial perfect tool for a job, this is it for cutting small diameter music wire.I recently had a project where I needed to cut almost 100 short pieces of music wire in a hurry. In the past I had used a rotary tool with a cut-off wheel to cut music wire but that's time consuming and it's hard to make clean, accurate cuts. Some internet searching led me to these Xuron cutters and with Prime next day shipping, I had them in hand in time to finish my project. They worked perfectly to cleanly and precisely cut the wire. There's a very satisfying snap when you make a cut and the built in clamps hold both pieces of the cut wire so they don't go flying (very important for the small pieces I was cutting). The cuts are also nice and clean. No burrs or nicks to clean up.The only thing I would want to change about them is to add an adjustable end stop guide for repeatedly cutting short pieces of the exact same length. I was able to rig something for this purpose but it would be nice if that were built in. That's a pretty minor point though and I'm very happy I found this. I'll probably consider using music wire in more of my projects now that I have this.

THESE ARE GREAT!
I can't begin to say how perfect these are for the application I use them. I'm cutting 0.031" music wire when making fishing spinners. BUT, I use the excess to make retaining barbs for soft plastic baits silver soldered to jigs and for Comet style spinners but with single Glo-Bug hooks. That means I need to make 3/8" snips of music wire. These shears cut and CAPTURE the small end. Just so much better than anything I had tried before. The music wire dented most "hobby" flush-cutters/dikes. Not these. No wear or jaw deformation yet. HIGHLY recommended. Might save your eyesight as well. (But you are, of course, wearing safety glasses with side shields when cutting wire so this may not be a concern). They also work to size the plastic keeper hook after I get the piece wire wrapped and soldered to the hook. Love 'em.

A must have!
I got tired of using my flush pliers and damaging it in the process. This gives clean cuts to 14gauge wires with ease. Highly recommend!

Typical Xuron Tool
Tools these days range from absolute crap to excellent, usually somewhere in between. When you make a living with them, or simply depend on them, or can't afford to just throw them away after a couple of uses, it's no end of frustration finding good tools "Like Grandpa Used To Have." Seems like we've forgotten how to make good steel or just don't care, so long as money can be made.Xuron, on the other hand, is one of the good ones. Good design, good materials, work the way they're supposed to. Piano wire and similar hard steel require cutting tools way beyond most, and Xuron has done an excellent job with this cutter. It cuts easily and cleanly, and holds on to the cut pieces so they don't fly away. Very impressive tool and well worth the price.

These work really well
I am rebuilding an 1890 upright piano, and I used this set of music wire cutters to cut all the old strings of the piano, and plan to use it when it comes time to restring with all new strings. These cutters handled everything with ease. They cut the thickest bass string core wire with just as much ease as the thinner gage treble wires. They are small and compact and I think I will really enjoy using this wire cutter going forward.

but I can say that it makes an unbeliveably nice cut. The cut is perfectly square
I am using this cutter (Xuron 2193F) for piano wire. It's too early for me to say anything about its longevity, but I can say that it makes an unbeliveably nice cut. The cut is perfectly square, there is no burr or sharp edge. Don't be fooled by its size. This thing has enough leverage to cut plain wires up to 20 ga. I haven't tried it yet on bass strings.I have a collection of piano wire cutters: Starrett No. 1, a couple of differnt Knipex, and a Channellock side-cutter. They all have dents in their cutting edges, and they all produce pointy/sharp cuts that can scratch you easily. All of them are larger and heavier than the Xuron. If the Xuron prooves durable, it will be my favorite. I will update this review if I discover any negatives.

With this tool you don't feel like using anything else
I use this tool frequently when repairing pianos. I change all the piano strings on a daily basis, but those who are new to this tool will be amazed at the high quality, as it has a clean cut surface and can be easily cut when cutting hard piano wire. No matter where you look in the world, this tool is the best.

Lightweight !
I used to carry huge wire snips = these work great and small size. However, I can't see them lasting very long if you restring pianos for a living. Great at the customer's for on the spot repairs.
