RSVP International Stoneware Salt Pig and Spoon Set, Wide Mouth, Dishwasher Safe, 3x3.25x5", Oatmeal

This salt pig is well made with a strong bold coloring. It holds quite a lot of salt, just enough to suffice for making dinners. It is durable and has yet to break even though it is moved a lot near our stove. The mouth is wide enough to reach in and grab a pinch of salt, or you could use the matching spoon. However, the spoon is a bit clumsy to hold. It's about a 1/4 tsp size but is not meant to be measurable. So if you use the spoon, it may pick up more than you need or want. All that being said, this is a good value and a clever, cute option to storing salt.

We use nothing but kosher salt in our kitchen, and it is impossible to get kosher salt out of a salt shaker because the holes in the shaker are not large enough. Instead, I open the salt shaker, pour some salt into my hand, and promptly drop a blob of salt into the food. This is highly unsanitary, and it is embarrassing to see dinner guests beat the living daylights out of the salt shaker in order to season their food. I purchased this product - and I still don't know WHY it works; I just know that it is the answer that I have been looking for! It is really a cute little item (it even has a cute little piggy tail on the back), and the salt spoon is just the perfect size for just about everything. It is an inexpensive and attractive fix for people who love kosher salt. You will not be disappointed.

This blue pig is my 2nd purchase and I'm even more pleased with this one because of the color which makes a nice contrast with the lighter oatmeal interior. They're as cute as the dickens and should suit anyone but a major user of salt.Unlike my oatmeal pig this very deep blue pig arrived with its spoon unbroken because of good packing at the manufacturer's end, I suspect, since there was also no damage to the Styrofoam. So if blue fits in with your color scheme you'll have a much greater chance of getting & using all you paid for if you choose it over oatmeal. I have both colors in my kitchen and I prepare food in two different areas, hence my purchase of two.The spoon does not hold a great deal and may eventually end up broken accidentally like the first. For a replacement in that event these BambooMN Brand - Carbonized Brown 3.5" Round Head Small Solid Bamboo Spice/Salt/Sugar Spoons, 10pcs that I purchased several years ago for another purpose, are very nice. Leveled off one holds approx 1/3 teaspoon, and heaping it holds approx 1/2 teaspoon of Black Tai Salt Co.'s Finely Ground Himalayan Salt.Spoon-wise, I was prepared for the worst this time and it cost me nothing to be able to use both pigs right away, so I'm happy to give this pig a full 5 stars.

The salt pig itself is quite nice and well-made. I ordered the navy blue version, and the color is extremely nice. It's not large enough for larger-than-medium-sized hands to pinch salt out of, so the manufacturer includes a (largely useless) porcelain spoon. However, Amazon, in their usual shipping incompetence, is extremely likely to deliver the product with the little spoon absolutely destroyed, as is shown by countless other reviews. If you want a dirt cheap, yet well-made salt pig to keep on your countertop, and Amazon's lack of concern for delivering delicate products in one piece doesn't bother you, this thing is absolutely worth $8 or whatever I paid for it. I, personally, expect Amazon to do the sloppiest-as-humanly-possible job of packaging their shipments, so I am over the moon using this beautiful salt pig with my own, already-owned coffee spoon.Would recommend to people who expect no more than the usual Amazon experience.

I purchased the oatmeal colored salt pig. The color is really cute for the design. After reading other reviews I did expect it to be smaller than most salt pigs and it is. I can still grab a pinch of salt from the opening with my hands, but it is a little narrow. The spoon, for me, is completely useless and just gets in the way. It should also be said that this salt pig is glazed on the inside, so its ability to keep moisture out is hindered. Despite its shortcomings the item is cute and does its job, so I give it 3 stars.

This is a must have for my kitchen! I have had one for years until it broke, so this was a replacement. The first shipment did arrive broken, but it was quickly and easily returned and the new one arrived in perfect condition. I love being able to have a convenient place to keep salt on the counter and within reach.

It is very good quality and the spoon is a perfect size! I love having it sit on my counter!

Bought this for my daughter as a gift...she loved it except that when she opened the package, she found the lite spoon broken...other than that she loves it, uses it for salt.

What a great way to store salt! Having just bought some nice oil and vinegar bottles to have on the worktop next to the hob, I wanted something for the salt that was quick and easy to use but looked good, while searching I discovered salt pigs. I bought the blue pig and it is a really nice deep dark blue, the pig is quite small but when filled it's a good couple of months before I need to refill it. The salt stays nice and dry and it so convenient to just grab a spoon of salt whenever you need it (the spoon is included). The little knob on the top is useful for when I need to pick it up. Looks really good and I wouldn't be without one now.

I really hoped this salt keeper was a bit larger. The opening is too small even for my small hands. I'm 5'1" with hands like a child's.If I could return the item from Singapore without incurring astronomical postage fees, I would've.
