Great book
I have read this book so many time sense buying it. I bought this copy because I lost my original copy when I moved back to Colorado from Michigan in 2017. From the first time I picked up the book to now it sill has a way of drawing you in. Sense the first time I picked the book up till now I read it and it reminds me of why I got into the line of work I am in now. Dog inspired me, just like he did to so many others, to follow my dreams and help others.

Good read, but....
Dog has written a pretty good book about his life here, but it's not great because the story isn't finished yet. I think this book would have been better had the Dog waited until his current legal troubles are over and settled. With the Andrew Luster, Mexico fiasco still up in the air, Dog will have to write another book to finish his life's story.Reading this book showed me something I never expected to learn about The Dog, that he really didn't get his life together until the past few years. Before Beth, The Dog's life was one tragedy after another, one setback after another, which led Dog to some unfortunate self-destructive behavior, but also to personal victories over people who hated him for no good reason. There was booze and some drugs, along with a lot of women to help him deal with his inner pain and demons. Dog's trials and tribulations are both heartbreaking and thought provoking. In my mind, and after reading this book, I have to say that Beth probably saved Dog's life. Without Beth's guiding love and toughness, The Dog we all love might not have ever lived long enough to write this book. Dog may be a superhero to many of us, but without Beth all there'd be is a cape hanging on the wall. Dog, I love you, brother. Note to anyone who reads this: "You can run, but you can't hide" is definitely a book worth reading, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Falling & Rising
I appreciated the honesty of this book and its down to earth look at the reality of some individuals' lives so often candy-coated and swept under the spiritual carpet by others professing a Christian faith. Dog's candor is commendable. Having worked in adult and youth corrections in the USA and abroad, I have witnessed the personal struggles some folks face who have literally grown up in a different world than their charge-card-attained middle class counterparts. Some `fish' caught take more time to clean than others and it's a messy process. I do recommend one read the entire book (and his next book also) before casting your stones of judgment, especially if you have little to no exposure and experience with the world Dog and others like him come from. It has been said that "The Church kills its own wounded." Dog is a continuing living example of Proverbs 24:16-17 (For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again ...). He is also very open in confessing his sins and shortcomings, something you will rarely, if ever, see a popular TV minister do publicly. Dog Chapman, Nicky Cruz, Larry Norman, Bill Wilson, etc. have reached lives in fields white for harvest that other mainline Christian folks would never dare to enter - being afraid of the poking stickers lurking within. Yes, the book was a good read and provided motivation to pray for those still imprisoned in worlds like where Dog came from.

To Anybody With a Dream, They Do Come True!
Duane "Dog" Chapman was the star of his own reality series, "Dog The Bounty Hunter" on A&E in the 2000s and "Dog and Beth" on CMT television. Dog Chapman is best known for his capture of Max Factor heir, Andrew Luster, from sexual assault charges in Mexico. Duane "Dog" has led a colorful and adventurous life from his upbringing in Denver, Colorado to Huntsville prison in Texas where he learned to be a human being again after a murder charge and his long association with biker gangs.Duane writes about his life with candor and honesty but he puts too much information about his sexual prowess. The readers don't need to know about his sexual conquests as the birth of children. He lost two children; a premature baby Zebediah in 1980 and an adult daughter Barbara Katy a day before his wedding to Beth Chapman in a Big Island wedding that aired on television. The book also answered how Duane and his family moved to Hawaii from Denver, Colorado. Duane had fallen in love with Hawaii on a trip to 1991. Beth was still in Denver and married to another man. Duane was still married to Lyssa's mother. Hawaii is the most expensive state in the country so it is difficult to relocate too. Duane also worked with an office in Denver, Colorado as well as Hawaii. He still commutes back and forth between the mainland especially his hometown of Denver, Colorado and Honolulu for business reasons. He and Beth are traveling around the country to help save the bail bonds businesses including New Jersey.

I learned a great deal about hunting from this book and I have ...
While Dog is a true Bounty Hunter, He knows his business well! He has truly found his calling in life. I learned a great deal about hunting from this book and I have always enjoyed "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" show. I do believe he has shown his true colors as the greatest bounty hunter of them all! There is much more than that written on these pages. I am disappointed in him as a father. Perhaps it was the drugs and/or his need for sex, not love from women. His children certainly suffered greatly along the way. His need to prove himself as a man was certainly greater than his need to be a dad. I suppose I am writing from a woman's perspective but, my heart broke for his kids. They saw the worst of times and I hope they came through it all without many scars.

Not a bad book about an interesting guy
Not a bad book about an interesting guy.You have seen 'Dog' on the TV and you get the picture that he's the good guy who makes his money by catching the bad guy and getting his ass back to jail where they belong. At the beginning of each 'hunt' you will watch Dog and his family of bail bondsmen and women join hands and pray, they then go on with the catch of their bond throughout the show and at the end they bang them in the back of their pick up, offer them a cigarette, show some compassion and preach them a little bit- "You can get back on track now buddy".Reading Duanes book puts a story behind the TV show and explains how the 'Dog' came to be.It sheds light on his slightly chequered past, run ins with the law and how he found his religion. It's quite an interesting read and is simple enough to follow. A good quick read for any fans of the show.

A super read.
What an interesting book. I have so much respect for Duane having read his book. I had no idea of the difficulties he had overcome, against all odds to become the person he is today. From difficulties in childhood, motorcycle gangs, drugs and not to mention women. He is a credit to his determination to survive and overcome. I also understand the empathy he has for the people he catches as a bounty hunter. A super read.

"Where mercy is shown, mercy will be given"
Love the series, and the book doesn't detract from it either-just shows that there aresome people out there willing to go out on a limb to help their fellow man-yes, it's also his job, but a good lesson for all today-YOU can change YOUR life, people will the right motivation can help you no matter what. The key to all this-Study the Bible-find out the answers that matter to you and the power of prayer is always there as Dog shows at the end of each 'job' he does, he always gives thanks to God.

Woof Woof
Having watched Dog on TV I bought this book for the 'better half' as a small joke at Christmas but what a book. Never realised what a colourful life Dog had lived. he does not hold back and is open about his childhood and his relationship with his father, his time in jail, his girlfriends and of course his career. Written in a style which is easy to read and with short chapters it is easy to dip in and out of. As it says, you certainly can run but can't hide from the Dog.
