Elric at his best
Taking from Michael Moorcock and brining it to life. This art is fantastic!! A must have for any art fan. And with these books see where the idea for the Whitcher began.

The Pale Prince returns from exile!
The first two volumes in this French Elric comic series were some of the best Fantasy stories you'll ever read, and the long-delayed volume 3 is no exception. While it's not a 100% faithful adaptation of the books, this volume in particular is definitely the closest to the original novels to date. Essentially skipping the very beginning of "Sailor on the Seas of Fate" (makes sense, as the metaphysics would have been a little out of place) and adapting the Saxif D'aan portion of the same story, instead. Here the writer plays the tragic love story of Saxif and his reincarnated paramour as a mirror image of Elric's own doomed courtship with Cymoril, in some fairly well-executed foreshadowing. The art here is stunning. Probably the best in this series to date, which is really saying something considering the quality of the previous volumes. The pale blue color palette in the opening really helps convey a sense of isolation, as Elric is now a soldier of fortune, adrift in the world. While the opulence of the later chapters establishes the decadence of Jharkor later on.One of the best Fantasy books of the last year. Now, thankfully, translated into English by Titan Comics.

Great story, but packaging could've been better
Awesome read for anyone interested in the story and character of Elric. However the packaging could've been better. It was placed in a cardboard cover with nothing else so the corners received damage in its travel. Nothing too major, but it is noticable. On the plus side, I did receive it earlier than the expected date, hence the only reason my overall review of 4 stars, instead of 3. But as stated earlier, the story is 5 out of 5 easy.

This book will drink your soul...
The art is fantastic. Pacing is pretty quick but writing overall is great considering they're trying to squeeze a 200 page story into something like 28 pages or something. The French know how to make fantastic comic adaptations.

Another Excellent Chapter In Elric's Continued Saga!
Finally! A welcome return to Michael Moorcock's magnum opus of a series. In this third entry, we finally Elric of Melniboné become the eponymous "White Wolf."It's a hell of a read, and just as seminal as the two that preceded.

Blood and Souls for this series of graphic novels!
Read my review for The Ruby Throne: Deluxe Edition and buy this book immediately, for this volume is even better than the first two!

A decent comic that could have been more...
I'm not convinced by the quality of the art. It's nearly right but it's not quite right. There's also a quality to the main protagonist that isn't fully expressed. A lot of the work in the comic is good but I don't think it quite does Justice to the tormented demigod that is out Elric...

Stunning!
Everything about the Elric comics screams class. The french comic style of art of this particular release lend themselves well to the debauchery and perverse Melnibonean constructs throughout the story and do more to capture the society of arrogance than even Moorcock managed to detail in the original books. The original hardback is now nigh on impossible to find, so this deluxe edition is welcome although much larger than the other books in the series, so be warned that your collection may well look quite overpowered by this book....but this book is fantastic! the art quality conjures the tradition of french comic cornerstones like Heavy Metal magazine and practically rewrites the origins of Elric in unexpected ways and the no holds barred explicit violence and debauchery of Elric and his people are brought to life in stunning glossy presentation. the paper stock is far superior to a lot of comics i've seen and the print quality is amazing. If you have any interest in fantasy post game of thrones, just buy all the Elric books now, you wont regret it and you may learn a thing of two about where GRRM learned to tell his tale.

The best of the three thus far...
Of the three graphic novels thus far to be (loosely) based on Elric of Melnibone, The White Wolf is the most enjoyable. However as already stated this is a loose adaption. A lot of liberties and alterations are made to the story across the three volumes so far and with the ending to this volume being completely different to the books. Personally I would of liked the creators of this comic to do a 100% original story of Elric and not of had a foot in each camp.Fantastic artwork and the story is told decently however it is just too much of a deviation from the source material for me. I would recommend this Elric collection to those who haven't read the books and want a good fantasy story, for in that regard it is. Long time fans of Elric just be warned: this is not a true adaption from the source material.
