This book had amazing knitting pictures and beautiful patterns.

Like all the Japanese stitch dictionaries I have ever seen, this is a high-quality production with excellent photos & charts of each stitch pattern. The photos make a helpful supplement to the charts: all patterns are sampled in smooth yarns, and even the darker colors are light enough that the stitches are easy to see.The text is in simplified Chinese (not Japanese) but if like me you can't read it, an intermediate or advanced knitter should still have no problem following the charts. However, it is probably not a good purchase if you don't like working from charts. There are some unusual symbols in some charts, which are explained in more detail at the back of the book. Again, if you cannot read the explanatory text, the step-by-step drawings for these are clear & easy to follow.Note: purl stitches are shown as blank squares in the charts.Pattern selectionThere is little, if any, overlap with any US or European stitch dictionaries readily available. Many of the patterns in this book are actually combinations of lace, cable & twisted-stitch elements which you will recognize individually but will likely not have seen in these combinations. In some cases this does make for large repeats.A large proportion of the patterns include yarn-overs (210/250) - which is not to say that all of them are very hole-y.I'm delighted with the book's quality & content. It is very expensive, presumably due to being imported, but a great addition to the library of a serious knitter.

Nice to see new patterns and do something new. the book is very cool in every way.

I absolutely love this stitch guide; I hope the publisher decides to reprint It because the patterns are beautiful and unique. (Note, I believe there is an authorized Chinese version). All of the stitch patterns are charted and accompanied with clear photographs of swatches of each. Even if you don't read Japanese (I don't), the charts are easy to follow with the help of the illustrated instructions explaining the pattern symbols and plenty of on-line tutorials and instructions. Many of the stitches in this book have been incorporated into popular patterns-- for example,Jared Flood's Umaro blanket is based on Stitch Pattern #108.This is not a book for a beginning knitter or the unadventurous knitter -- there are stitches in it that are unique to Japanese patterns.

Along with the Clear & Simple Japanese Knitting Symbols Translated provides clear illustration/instruction to recreate extraordinary knitting stitch patterns. For me this is more fun than crossword puzzles or seduku for challenging the mind and it has the added benefit that I end up with a beautiful blanket, scarf, or __?___. I cannot recommend more highly to anyone interested in knitting stitch patterns.

At this time this is my most favorite stitch pattern book. Althou I do not speak or read japanese, I am expirienced enough to knit those patterns. This book is a must have for the advanced, adventurous cable loving knitter.Thank you so very much for this book, Hitomi.

This has the best collection of knitting patterns. I was afraid it wouldn't make sense to me because it's in Chinese but the charts are very clear and I was able to find stitch guides on line.

Stunning designs! I don't read Chinese, but the knitting symbols are pretty much universal. I haven't tried to knit any of the patterns in this book yet, but its still great to have this book for the future ideas and inspiration.

An acquaintance brought home a copy of this book and I have been obsessed by it since I saw it. The patterns are exquisite. I feel very fortunate to have been able to buy a copy.

人気があり、高額なので、なかなか手に入れる事が出来なかったけど、自分にご褒美で買っちゃいました。でも、あまりの難しいので手が出ません。でも見ているだけで満足、きっとその気が起きたらぜひ編もうと思って居ます。
