EH!!! I open my hand as wide as possible while holding these shears and the shears barely open wide enough for a branch... I have to take my hand out and open the shears wide enough for the branch and then press down on both sides of the shears in order for it to cut through a thick branch..,. This only opens wide enough for small twigs...

If you're going to get pruning shears you should always get shears of the ratchet variety. You can cut more easily and therefore cut thicker branches. Love these so far. Will order these again once the pair I have give up on me.

Unfortunately I didn’t read the negative reviews and ordered these thinking I was getting German-made pruners, as the description states. I opened the box that has Made in China on it and thought maybe I ordered the wrong thing accidentally. The pruners felt very flimsy and cheap. I returned them the same day. I also didn’t fully read the description where it says these are good for arthritics and women. How demeaning. Had I seen that description that would have been enough to stop the purchase right there.

Ratcheting Pruners - worked okay. When they fully opened, I had to use both hands to close (felt like no stopping point for a grip). Ratcheted into limbs like they should. Closing with the slide bar is much easier than pulling up on a button on the other brands. I am using them; however they are not the perfect fit for my hand.

These work as intended... there is less strain on the hands, and they cut cleanly. They don't seem very sturdy, however, since they have a lot of plastic in the construction. Since the price is not bad, I suggest handling and storing them with care. Otherwise, satisfactory.
