It's neither pepper, nor spearmint - it's in-between; flavor is not that strong.

They do not contain sugar but one of the two main ingredients is Xylitol which is a sugar substitute.  It is safe for diabetics and actually helps prevent tooth decay. Mary, my husband uses a C-Pap nightly and has severe dry mouth also, due to meds.  The xylimelts have been 100% effective for giving him the moisture he needs.  Without the xylimelts he was suffering from decay in addition to the dry mouth annoyance. I am a dental hygienist and highly recommend this product!
