Sadlak Industries M14/M1A Heavy Duty Front Rail with Internal Nutplate QD Stud (for Harris QD Bipods), Q12, Large

I purchased this Sadlak Rail/QD system for my Springfield M1A and Caldwell QD bipod. It was very easy to remove the sling swivel plate with a 1/8" allen wrench. My Springfield synthetic stock already has brass, threaded anchors in the stock itself for the swivel plate but they have to be removed. That's the hard part. You have to find a machine screw with matching threads that is at least 2" long and thread it into the existing brass anchors in the stock. Then, with a pair of pliers you have to twist side to side and pull on the screw to yank the brass anchors out of the stock. (This is on the included instruction sheet pertaining to Springfield synthetic stocks). Being very careful to not crack or damage the stock this took a while. Once they were out I still had to make the holes bigger to allow the internal nut plate to seat in the holes. Used a flat tip screwdriver. After that it was very simple to screw the three parts together. The rail, the sling swivel plate under that and the internal nut plate. Oh, don't forget Blue Loctite. The rail comes with two sets of screws, one set shorter than the other. I was able to use the shorter set and get full insertion into the nut plate. Haven't shot with it yet so don't know how well it will hold up.

I was looking for a way to use the GI type sling, but to be able to use a bipod as well. This was the solution that had the best reviews. I felt like it was way over-priced, but it looked like the best solution, so I ordered it.It was shipped quickly, but the most notable thing was how well made it is, and how well thought out the entire package is.It came with extra crews so it can be installed on a fiberglass stock, a wood stock or even a national or super match stock. The instructions were fantastic. It took a little bit of "fitting" but it wasn't time consuming nor difficult.I am VERY pleased with the results and I HIGHLY recommend it to others. I till think it could be less expensive, but the manufacturer did not cut any corners. The value is there if you need to mount a bipod, light or other small Picatinny attachments.

Not recommended for use on USGI Walnut Stock for M1A rifle. You have to remove material from the inside of the barrel channel and that further weakens the wood. Eventually, the wood will split. If you're using a synthetic stock, go for it. Do not use the drain hole for your bipod.
