Q: Do you need to rub this in?

Yes, definitely! I didn't rub it in the first time and got sunburned. The second time around I did rub it in and re-applied. I got sunburned again, but less so. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this product. I'd get the TerraSport Spray (SPF 15) http://amzn.to/295hTX6 or Goddess Garden Kids (SPF 30) spray instead http://amzn.to/297xPuY I am a scuba diver and cyclist so I spend a lot of time in the sun. I threw away the remainder of my bottle of Babo and won't be re-ordering.

Q: Does this sunscreen rub in without making really white? Also does it make you look shiny?

Its like a spray zinc and sprays on white. I shake the can and rub it in but there is just a hint of white. No shiny. It stays on even when I get out of the pool. Strong stuff.

Q: When I shake the bottle the contents sound solid. It still sprays but seems almost like rotten milk, does this mean it’s gone bad?

No, it's not bad. That is why shaking first is so important. It mixes ingredients together so that they aren't 'lumpy' and comes out in fine light spray once shook well. The can even says on it shake well for 5 seconds.
