AliMed FREEDOM Swedish AFO, White, Women's Right

So here's the thing. The FREEDOM© Swedish Ankle Foot Orthosis is made in Taiwan. So you had better be ready for this thing to be sooooo narrow that I couldn't fit my heel in it, let alone my calf. I wear a size 8 shoe, this thing barely fit my foot. The strap at the top was not secured and it came off in my hand. At this point I would normally said...take it back! However, somewhere in the instructions there was mention of using a heat gun for "softening" the plastic.I really wanted this Orthosis to work AND being an artist who happens to have experience using a heat gun...I decided to try to "reshape" the back and heel area.Success!, so far anyway. I would change my rating, but with all the time and creativity I had put into it nope. As for the strap, I tossed it and now I secure it with a decorative bandana or neck tie.

I developed drop foot and a custom brace was recommended. The cost to my insurance was $800-$900 with my portion being just 10% but it left me bewildered why it should cost insurance so much. I cancelled the custom order right away and talked to a Physical Therapist. The therapist reviewed the information and did some research. The product was almost identical to the custom order brace for under $40.I have been using now for almost 1 1/2 months and it works very well.

Nice brace. Had to return it. When foot is flat down the heel part is so narrow thatthe vertical sides come up under the foot. So the foot can not be flat down.I hope someone writes in and offers a suggestion. I would like to buy this and beable to wear it. ([email protected])

I wasn't pleased with the extra length of padding to wrap around the calf. Had ordered the Ossur brand last time and prefer that strap, but they doubled their price >: (

I had high hopes that this brace would work for my needs straight out of the box, but it didn't. If you know how to heat the plastic to make it mold to your leg then great! However I suffered a stroke that affected my entire right side and do not have those kinds of skills.

Excellent reasonably priced alternative to going to an ortotist and spending hundreds.It really does help with drop foot. I can walk much futher when I wear this.

It has done exactly what it was suppose to do. Ended up being a lot cheaper than going to a brace/orthotic company for my insurance & myself! Wish the upper strap was smaller as will slip down at times.

Bought for my mother in law as advised by physical therapist. The verdict is still out on whether she will wear them. Adjustments being made
