A very handy and functional tool. Cordless for convenience. Includes exactly the two blade sizes I need... one suitable for panfish and one for larger fish. The supplied blades were extremely sharp. As others have mentioned, they are a little fidgety to install, but it's really no big deal. They stay put. The included case is very nice! It's quite slim (think of the form factor as being like a large book -- see photo) and there is room inside for doing some custom work to make slots for additional blades if you desire. The fact that it will reportedly accept blades from other brands is a plus, if accurate. The battery has the capacity to very easily handle as many panfish as I usually clean at once (10-15). The battery has a cool "fuel gauge" to read out the current charge level and a nice A/C-powered battery charger is included. I haven't used it enough to comment on blade edge retention, but I can easily sharpen that type of serrated blade with a small triangular stone, so it's not a concern to me. The build quality looks and feels very good and the ergonomics are excellent. The only drawback --and it's a minor one-- of an electric filet knife is that the handle is much larger in diameter than a normal filet knife and the blade is a little less flexible, so it's necessary to set up your fillet board next to the edge of the counter or table or raise it up on a block so you can get the knife horizontal to your work. I know that some folks like to keep a traditional filet knife handy for taking the skin off the fillets, but I don't find that necessary. I'm happy with this KastKing knife and think it's a good value, like their other products. I've been debating buying an electric fillet knife for years and I'm glad I finally got one.

This is my first battery powered knife and I am not disappointed. Most surprising was the over all quality of the components. The carry case is very durable and keeps all the parts neatly packed away. It appears to be made of a canvas type of material and the inside is a rubbery type of foam. The 4 sets of blades pack away nicely in the case and are very sharp. They are also corrosion resistant which is a huge plus. The blades lock solid inside the the handle and there is also a safety lock near the trigger. The lock is easy to engage and very functional however, even with the trigger lock I recommend removing the battery when inserting and removing the blades. This would be for any electric knife. The 2 Lithium-Ion batteries have a built in power level display and mine arrived almost fully charged. The batteries appear to be of good quality and lock solidly into the handle. With the batteries removed, the charger easily connects directly into the battery. I really like that the charger has a LED indicator to let you know when the battery is charged. It is red when charging and turns green when fully charged. The handle assembly is more solid than I expected. It is very well balanced and fits nicely in my hand. I can feel the torque when the trigger is pressed and is very powerful. Over all it just feels comfortable to use. I have used corded knifes for years and this one is sooo much better. I am very happy with my purchase and can not go back to back to cords. If any thing were to happen to this knife I would have to get another one.

Overall this is a good electric knife set. The motor is quiet and strong. The 2 battery packs seem to hold a charge and recharge nicely. I love the carry/storage case. Very well made. The set comes with 4 sets of blades. Bluegill to salmon you should be able to fillet them all with this setup. Unfortunately my set had 2 sets that will not cut well. One is plain dull, so much so that excessive force is needed to even break a fish’s skin and scales. It will not separate fillets from skin. The worst offender is the 7” finesse blade. Didn’t want to cut and because of excessive blade tolerance filled up with fish matter and would gum up and bog down. I contacted Kastking customer service and they offered to help with this problem. They took care of me by offering me a refund or a gift card to their website. I chose the card and got a smaller knife set to replace the blades. Of course I had to spend more money on other things because of a shopping weakness I have but I am happy with the end result of my interaction with CS.

This company definitely has a problem with their quality control Dept. Received knife with a defective/DEAD battery. Looking at reviews and this seems to be an ongoing problem. Takes days to resolve because customer support is in CHINA. They dont answer you until 3ish in the morning. Anyway, they are sending another battery.
