SMALLRIG M50 / M50 II / M5 Cage, Camera Cage with Integrated Grip and NATO Rail, Aluminum Alloy Video Film Movie Making Rig for Canon M50 / M50 Mark II / M5-2168C

If you own a Canon M50 or M50 Mk 2 and are planning to go on the move or even for general use, this is a good accessory to pick up. Before I go on, I have not tried with the Zhiyun Crane M3 gimble yet, but it adds little to the overall weight of the small Canon camera. Robust, light metal with no rough edges and a feeling of quality. I personally like the slight weight addition and extra grip offered by the the Rig. In addition to the overall quality & handling I am hoping to take advantage of the extra utility slots/add-one available once you have the Small Rig fitted to your camera (there is a small magnetic key included to secure the unit to your camera, which is out of sight and under the rig). Battery & SD card are accessible with the rig on and it is easy to set/remove from a tripod/stand (depending on your personal choice/set-up). In addition to the above, the Rig offers a good level of protection an with a possible wrist/neck strap, this will give an added sense of security. On first look, not the best on price, but when you consider the overall protection, ability to add various add-ons - shotgun mic, light, handles (both side & top), wireless mic etc. it's worth it. Personal not: even though I have the camera in a bag; knowing the Rig cage is on it, means that i am not worrying too much if the bag gets a hit or dropped. I have also bought 2 of these for my cameras, which are used for all aspects of photography/videography.

The Canon EOS M50 is a very light and quite small DSLR and this is good when you are just carrying it around hoping to get lucky with a candid shot. I'm currently messing around with nature macro photography and this wee rig really gives the camera just a little extra 'heft.' It won't be right for everyone but it just makes the camera feel a bit more substantial, balanced and less fragile when working at close range with a long lens and extension rings. The rig fits snugly with appropriately placed padding in areas that may otherwise cause cosmetic damage to the camera body over time. There are numerous holes to bolt on anything else you might require although I think this would be more for the vlogging crowd. The design has been well thought out and nothing is blocked. The flash pops up, the display screen is not obscured or limited in its movement and there is easy access to the battery area. There's even a small screwdriver key magnetically attached to the underside for removal of the rig. Maybe not for some, who probably bought the M50 for its size and weight but it has its uses along with the extra protection it gives.

I bought this to protect my camera initially but now I can happily say it’s done more than that. Ive been able to buy and customise my camera in new ways, including being able to attach my phone via an additional clamp to record what I photograph, provides a unique new view! It’s also nice to have a magnetic key attached to the cage itself, it’s very handy for tightening my tripod mounts, saves having to keep a penny on you! Worth purchasing!

Excellent cage. Perfect fit for the Canon M50 Mark II and allows access to all ports. Useful cold shoe set to the side of the cage which I use for a microphone (less obtrusive than the one on top of the camera). The cage is rugged, protects the underside of the camera and makes the camera easier to grip. My camera hasn't been out of this cage since I bought it. Rather expensive though.

It fits snugly onto your cannon m50 or m5, zero wiggle room so you are very confident when holding it that its not just going to slip off. Before I bought it I found the cannon m50 to be way too small for my bigger hands, but now it feels like a much more compact piece of equipment with this smallrig cage protecting it. I would highly recommend this cage if you plan to run around with this camera (cannon m50) a lot as I do.

Pros: - Good metal build. Cannot overstate how solid it feels - Virtually infinite amount of options for customisation. Even has a built in horseshoe so that you can place a handle on the top of the cage which might impede your camera's inbuilt horseshoe. Thoughtful touch by SmallRig for the filmmakers who want to take low shots and still have crystal clear audio! - Cutouts in the cage so that all the doors and hinges can be opened fully. My cage is as much a part of my M50 as my phone case is of my phone. In other words my M50 lives inside this thing. - Protects the camera to some degree. If anything the cage is so solid it will damage whatever it lands on - The grip is amazing. For all those who think the M50 is a little small this adds great weight and feel to the overall package! Cons: - A little pricey. The quality is indisputably incredible but would have liked it to be ten pounds cheaper. Don't regret it at all however, and it seems more and more worth it as time goes by In conclusion, the cage is warmly reccomened to any and all M50 owners looking to accessorise their M50 with mics, handles, tripods, external displays, etc... or those who simply want to have a larger grip. The solid build is inviting and encouraging when opening the package and the quality shines through!

The SmallRig Cage for the Canon EOS M50 is a really well made piece of kit. The built feels sturdy and there are plenty of places to mount other pieces of kit onto the cage. I like how the cage allows access to every part of the camera while remaining functional. The thought that has gone into the design is second to none and the quality is exceptional. I love that there’s a little magnetic key attached to the bottom of the cage for tightening the mounting screw - genius!

Ignore the other review this is a perfect fit, it makes the grip almost twice as big and provides multiple options for adding accessories such as a rode mic or a aperture m9 or even a handle, Also adds a good chunk of weight as well that makes it finally feasible for use with a Ronin S Gimbal. Great value as well.

Commandé cette semaine, reçu hier, je l'ai immédiatement monté sur mon EOS M50. Il va à merveille, cette version permet de mettre un adaptateur Canon pour utiliser les objectif EF et EF-S dessus. Cette cage semble solide... elle permet également une meilleur prise en main de l'appareil car sur ce modèle la poigné est assez petite et j'ai de grande main, cela ma donc permis d'avoir une meilleur prise en main !!!!

I purchased the SmallRig Canon M50 Cage and I have to say, I am impressed with its quality and functionality. The build quality of the cage is fantastic, it feels solid and durable. It provides great protection for my Canon M50 camera and at the same time, it does not add much weight to the camera making it easy to carry around. The cage fits the camera snugly and securely, I never have to worry about my camera coming loose during use. The cage has a variety of mounting points for accessories, making it easier for me to attach different devices to my camera setup. The included NATO rail and cold shoe mount are especially useful for me. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the SmallRig Canon M50 Cage. It is well worth the investment for anyone looking to protect their camera while adding versatility to their setup. I highly recommend this product to any Canon M50 owner.

The cage fits perfectly on my Canon M50. I can mount the camera in such a way where I'm able to change camera batteries on the fly without removing the camera from my tripod. There were some reports of the cage's built-in 1/4-20 thumbscrew not securing the camera. I have not experienced this issue. The camera is held in place solidly. The cage adds protection to an otherwise all-plastic camera. There's a bit more weight by adding the cage, but it gives the M50 a little more heft and grip. With the cage installed, all ports/doors and controls on the Canon M50 are easily accessible One minor con is that if you mount the Top Handle (1638) to the top of the cage, this blocks the Canon M50's pop-up flash. The Top Handle can be mounted to other areas of the cage. There's no shortage of mounting options for say an external microphone, LED floodlamp or monitor. SmallRig's mounting hardware options are seemingly endless. Definitely worth the investment. I would recommend this product to others.
