Aerostar vs. 3M Filtrete Micro Allergen Defense
I purchased these filters instead of the Filtrete Micro Allergen Defense filters I had been buying previously since the 3M filters have gotten way too expensive. Overall, these filters are better in many ways than the 3M filters but fall short in one respect.Pros: the Aerostar filters are better supported than the 3M filters (see photos), heavier (8 oz. vs. 7 oz. for the 3M), and have more pleats. The generally feel more substantial and rigid than the 3M filters.Cons: they are smaller than the 3M filters and may fit more loosely depending on your ductwork. These filters are 19.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches while the 3M filters are 19.7 x 19.7 x 0.75. I used foam tape along the edges of my return ducts to make it a tight fit.Considering the price difference and the overall better quality of the Aerostar filters, I will certainly buy them again.Photos: 3M filter is on the left (somewhat dirty since I was replacing them), Aerostar filter is on the right.

BEWARE!!!
Maybe I'm just being overly picky. I received the 6 filters I ordered in a plain brown box. OK, no problem. But upon inspection of each filter I noticed none of the filters indicated the MERV rating. This is the first time I've ever purchased filters (regardless of brand) where the MERV rating is not clearly indicated on the filter. So, I have no way to verify that what I purchased is what I got. Quite frustrating...

Non-standard, under-sized filters
I order a box of filters at a time. So, with only a couple filters left from my last purchase I ordered these, an upgrade to a MERV 11. Well, I went to use one and noted that the first one I pulled out of the box of 6 was crushed/mangled in the corner. I should have noticed this when it was delivered. But when I went to put another one in my vent, it did not fit. Most 20x20x1 filters are really more like 19.75 x 19.75 x.75 but this one is 19.5 x 19.5 x .75 and it means I have a one inch gap to fill on two sides when I insert it. Not happy. My window to return this was 5 days ago apparently.

My Go-to Filters!
Affordable, great quality, and my go to brand! I buy these every few months and they are great. I replace three of this size and one larger every 2 months. We keep our house clean and dust free at all times, but we live in a state where allergies are constantly brewing and can't escape it. These filters help!!! Results you can see and feel. Only con I have is that these are a bit short and fit loosely. My solution is a $1.50 roll of window weather stripping around the filter and I get a snug fit. Overall, I'm happy and will continue to purchase.

Useless!
I waited a couple months to review and I'm glad I did. I had to replace the filter after a few weeks because they don't fit. There is a 1/4" gap that I've never had with other filters that were marked 20x20. After a few weeks, the gap causes air to collapse the filter in the middle making it completely useless. Wish I'd started using these right away so I could have maybe got a refund from Amazon.

Great deal - a bit small
Stoked to find this six-pack for roughly $30! We're impacted by a huge wildfire, and smoke affected our air quality terribly for two weeks. Grabbing these MERV 11 filters at this price made us able to change them frequently for much less than the $15-20 each price we were seeing at local stores.Note: They run small. About 1/4" shorter than the 20x20 size indicated. Not a deal breaker, but air was able to go around them, bypassing the filters altogether. For a quick fix, we ran some packaging tape around the edges to close the gaps and force air through the filter. That's the only reason for 4 stars.

Filter is too strong for my HVAC, never happened before
So, this was odd. I started smelling a burning smell from my HVAC unit, even when just the blower was one, no AC. The guy came out to check it out, said nothing was wrong. Finally it hit me, I had bought new filters a few months back, and had just started using them. So I borrowed a MERV 7 filter from a neighbor, mine are MERV 11, and the smell stopped. I just checked some professional tests online and it seems different filters, of the same MERV, cause a different pressure drop on your HVAC unit. I've alway used MERV 11 in the past because I have allergies, but for whatever reason, this brand's MERV 11 appears to put too much of a strain on my HVAC. And now I'm stuck with multiple filters I can't use. Be forewarned.

Can't complain at all
I have been using 3M, Honeywell, and Arm and Hammer filters up to this point, all in the neighborhood of $8 to $11 a piece. Upon opening the box of these filters, I immediately found these to be thicker, more stiff, and the filter media seems to be more resilient. I would imagine based on appearance that these will be superior to anything I was buying in my local stores price ranges. Upon installation, I did find these to be slightly smaller than the other filters I've used, and my return is in the ceiling which makes the installation a little more difficult because the filters aren't as snug in the frame. All things considered at a little less than $5 per filter, superior build quality, and what appears to be better overall filtering, the slightly smaller size is hardly worth mentioning. Thoroughly pleased...and these ARE AMERICAN MADE...compared to what local retailers sell...FILTRETE.

Buyer Beware
While these appear to be a pretty good filter at a good price buyers should be aware that while its advertised you will get 6 filters and the box when you receive it is labelled as having 6 filters inside, in fact what you get are 5 filters. Still a pretty good deal but surely a bit of false advertising. By reading through the reviews it appears this is not the first time this has happened. Just not worth the time and hassle for me to make an issue about it. My last time buying filters here though.

Hard to find filter size, but pricing is now terrible
I've ordered these a few times, and their quality is decent but packaging quality has gone down (box needs to be split open to remove a single filter) and pricing has gone up with each order to ridiculous levels now--nearly 2.5x its original pricing.Pricing is now higher than a conventionally-sized Nordic Pure filter sold here with activated charcoal and much higher filtering quality. I will be looking elsewhere for future orders in this sizing for Carrier furnaces, unless pricing improves.

Misrepresentation
I ordered these Aerostar filters as I already use this product but the product I received does not stay Aerostar on it anywhere. I’m wondering if I had been sent a generic brand or something like that. The ones I usually use have the brand Aerostar on them. And nowhere does it say Merv 11.I am very disappointed and will look further into this

want to blow your motor? then buy these
these things are literally the most restrictive filters i have ever used. I do NOT recommend using these unless you want to ef up your furnace.

Very efficient
After having a "horse hair" type filter for years, I decided to go with this MERV 11 filter since I felt the air quality could be better. The picture shows the filter after 6 months compared to a new filter; wow! Tons of dust, and we don't even have any animals or carpets! I wish I started using this filter a long time ago, but this particular size is hard to find.
