How to weed out the bad one
Ok, so I ordered this and did get a bad one the first time. I contacted amazon they ran some tests and determined it was faulty, and sent another the next day. For me it’s worth it to pay less for the router and weed out the bad one. That’s like being paid $70 to test a router... not bad I would say. Signs you have a bad one... Router doesn’t reboot Devices say they have the wrong password WiFi not consistent (I have an app for this WiFi analyzer) Login/setup screen takes a long time to load App that connects to router disconnects Won’t reset to factory defaults Hope that helps. The new one is working really good with about 30 devices and I am happy I saved a few bucks. Will update down the line sometime.

Cannot recommend purchase of Linksys Routers
Update Jan 10, 2019: Bottom line: If you are lucky and receive a "good" one, you will undoubtedly be happy with this router (I think this represents most if not all of the positive reviews). If you are unlucky like me then you might have the following experience. I received (Sep 2018) an out of the box defective certified refurbished EA9300 router with WiFi radios nonfunctional. After a couple of calls to Linksys, I sent back (at my cost) the defective router which Linksys replaced with a brand new EA9300 router in October. At first, I was very happy with the new replacement. The new router worked pretty much perfectly. Ultimately, (in January), the new router developed the same problem that I had with the original router - no Wifi. I originally purchased this router for a business. Linksys customer support for this model is definitely not business grade. It is a nightmare! You can read the rest of the review for more details but rather than go through the painful experience again with Linksys Customer Service I am now using the EA9300 as a router only and for WiFi an old Airport Express. So far, this system is working perfectly. I didn't get what I pay for but this is the fault of Linksys. When the EA9300 finally completely fails as a router (hopefully it will be a long time from now) I will buy a new router from a manufacturer other than Linksys. Oh and by the way, LinksysCares got my hopes up for a little while (maybe Linksys really does care?). LinksysCares did email back a couple of times but the responses were essentially that I was in good hands with Linksys Customer Service. Original Review: I purchased this Linksys EA9300 router (Model AC4000) from Amazon as a refurbished unit in Sep 2018 (Linksys Max-Stream AC4000 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Tri-Band Router, Compatible with Alexa (EA9300) (Certified Refurbished)). It arrived with WiFi nonfunctional. See my attached photo of other Amazon customers having a similar experience with WiFi. After about an hour on the phone with Linksys they sent me a replacement (brand new). I was happy with that trade-off (initially). New router worked properly out of the box including WiFi. Everything seemed great. Software interfacing the router did the job. I received this new replacement router in early October (2018). In December I started noticing that my devices would drop the Wifi connection. Initially I thought it was because of the dual band so I switched the 5GHz radio(s) off thinking that it would force devices always to use the longer range 2.4 Ghz band. However, I found that the problem with dropped WiFi connections continued (it became a habit to check the Wifi on the device and almost always necessary to reconnect). Okay, now we are in January 2019. I had to powers cycle the router due to a different issue. When the router came back online, I could see the SSID but the signal was so weak that a device cannot connect to the router (even when it is right next to it!). By the way, the original refurbished router I received had exactly this issue - WiFi did not work. After over 2 hours on the phone yesterday with Linksys, they are sending me a new replacement router. However, I now believe there has to be a fundamental design flaw with the wireless radios on this router model. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but my money is on the WiFi failing on the 3rd router as well. If that happens, I'm just going to buy a cheap WiFi access point to connect to the EA9300. I don't have the time spend hours on the phone with Linksys every-time the router fails to get a replacement. By the way, my first call to Linksys yesterday I was placed on hold for a half hour and then they hung up on me. If you buy this router, just be prepared that WiFi won't work either out of the box or within a few weeks of installation. This was an expensive router for a business so I am definitely not pleased with the whole experience. I hope LinksysCares reaches out - I would be curious to know what they have to say. Right now, I'm quite disappointed with Linksys - I was expecting more from such an expensive router. Update - Jan 9, 2019: I was initially very happy to see the quick response from Linksys (Jay's comment to my initial review). I called Linksys Customer Service yesterday to arrange for a replacement and to get an RMA to return the (2nd!) defective unit. However, Linksys customer service informed me that I was not eligible for a replacement since the warranty had expired. What??? So, it was explained to me the warranty period for a refurbished router is 90 days and since I received the original defective router in September it was greater than 90 days and I was no longer eligible for any replacement. I explained that the original router arrived defective and that it did not seem fair to start the warranty clock before I received a working router (in Oct). I was told they were sorry, this is the policy. Is this policy even legal? Can you start a warranty time clock on a defective product? Guys, maybe we should think about a class action suit here? I then told them about this review in Amazon and Jay's comment. I was put on hold several times so he could speak to a supervisor about my case. After a total of 2 hours on the phone, I was told they were going to give me a special one time replacement of a refurbished unit with no guarantee (in other words if it arrives dead on arrival I have no further recourse). Needless to say, I did not take them up on this "deal." For any Linksys employees following up on my review, my case number is 10623121. The original refurbished router that arrived DOA had serial number 18R10605704598 and the (new) replacement serial number was 18R10608803964. The Linksys customer service representative responsible for keeping me on the phone for over two hours was Brian ID# 21432. I am now out the original purchase price of the refurbished router, the cost to send it back for a replacement, and hours of frustration on the phone. I'm writing to let other potential buyers know the risks associated with buying Linksys products. This is not a $50 router. To be fair, I know similar experiences can be had with other electronics vendors but I definitely pulled the short straw on this purchase. Bottom line, I feel angry and taken advantage of since I am now quite certain there is a design flaw with the WiFi radios on this particular Linksys router model and I believe Linksys could have handled my situation better. I will write another update if Linksys decides to fix this problem for me. I'm not holding my breath.

Easy replacement of old router
All the streaming devices in my house were starting to overwhelm my old, higher end router. I ordered this refurbished router as an upgrade replacement. I have been unusually and pleasantly surprised. The streamlined set up process was very quick and easy, and once set up, all my devices immediately connected to it. I did not have to actively reconnect any of them. In the 3 weeks I've been using this router, I've never had to reboot it, never had any buffer overrun issues, it's never gotten hot, and have never had any connection issues. I've used a signal strength meter to see how it is doing in different rooms, and found I could remove the bridge router on the other side of the house. This router maintains a 60% signal level even through 2 very thick walls full of wire. It works well in place where my old router couldn't reach. My only complaint is that the built in settings and the additional phone app, do not give me all the advanced control options I would like to have. However, the available settings and control options are certainly adequate for most home settings, and they do make set up faster and more easy than it has been on some other routers. So far, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

A router good for the buck
This router has strong signal I don’t have to settle it in upper room. But at times the 5G connection is dormant and not responding although it’s shown as active on my device, but after a short while it will respond. This one replaced my older AC 1900 and we don’t have lagging or buffering as we were used to with the previous router. Also we are enjoying the full internet speed that our provider said they’re delivering to us.

Radio interference
Router would reset every 15 minutes or so and all connections would be lost causing me to repower each time. Forgot I had a cellular hotspot running in the house which I no longer need if the router works. Once I removed the hotspot the router has worked great. This can also happen with wireless telephones in the home using the same frequency.

Outstanding range!!! Easy setup.
Outstanding!!! Replaced the router supplied by our cable provider because were charging $5.95/month to rent theirs. Our wifi signal immediately went from fair to outstanding! We live in the mountains where we have no cell signal. We count on our wifi to make/receive phone calls. With the old router, we could not make calls while in the basement bedrooms. I considered using extenders, but decided to try this router instead. We can now not only make calls in the basement, we have access at the top of our 100+ foot driveway. I can work in the yard and not miss important calls! Awesome router!!!

Needs to take an iOS lesson in compatibility
12+ hrs on calls with tech support to make it work. Finally.. they said their rebuilt versions, while guaranteed, were crap and support turned to sales pitch to buy another router 300$+ more expensive. I was tempted out of sheer frustration but after tech support couldn't resolve setup issues, I took two steps back to " you tube university" and found video solution that made this refurbished router functional. Boo hoop to crappy lynksys outsiders foriegn support. ( how NOT to do business!) New buyers might not have any issue, but my set up was exceptionally convoluted, did not clearly sync with the remainder of home despite claims for extensive mesh support.. it's BS. Might be a good product, but so NOT user friendly.

run away from this roduct!!! run fast!!
i bought refurbished and it was DOA, no wifi signal at all.. It would not broadcast signal sitting 2 feet away from it (literally). After hours on the phone with Linksys, we decided to do RMA and they said this product EA9300 is obsolete in their warehouse, in other words, they don't make it or refurb this model anymore!! They agreed to send me a newer model EA9400 new, but I received a refurb and the worst part of that is, it didn't come with a power adapter!! WTF? Another 45 minutes on the phone with Linksys and was told they would request a power adapter from the warehouse.. The guy said to wait a few days for a reply. My advice to anyone wanting to save a few bucks, buy netgear , stay away from this brand!! Spend the extra money and get a better router that will do as advertised without the hassle of RMA's and hours with cust. support/service.. Ohh, I had to pay UPS to send the defective P.O.S, back to Linksys in order to get a refurbished unit after being promised several times a brand new replacement of the newer model. The guy I last spoke to said that the guy who told me I'd be getting a new router really meant refurbished, as in not new... I asked him several times if he meant brand new , as in never been used , and he assured me it was a new unit... Thia has been the worst purchase I made on Amazon ever!! I know it's not Amazon's fault, but they should read the bad reviews and remove this product from their lineup.. My best advice to anyone looking into EA9300 or EA9400 is to run from it as fast as you can.. If you do buy one, return it to Amazon, as Linksys will take weeks to try and do right by you as a customer, plus returning to amazon is free.. my trip to UPS store to return cost me about $17 and 30 minutes of my time... I have done a lot of research on these models after my purchase and have seen more bad than good... If given the chance, I will return this garbage and buy a Netgear router.. nighthawk.. they are far more stable and tech is better than Linksys.. Of course , it cost more, but I think you get what you pay for in this case.. They get 1 star because 1/2 star wasn't an option... Please, buyer beware!!!! you will regret this purchase if you ignore and buy this product.. Ohh yeah, another thing, just so you know, It's me and a roomate here and between us, we only have 5 wireless devices turned on, sometimes less, at any given time.. it's not like we are tying to squeeze everything out of this router.. For the most part, it's wired stuff, like pc's, tv's and gaming consoles.. all wired.. we like to use wifi onour phones when we can.
