Simmons SD500 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set Level 1

I've had this kit for a week now, played it about 6 hrs. For the money, this kit is fantastic for having fun and practicing your time in the context of being able to control volume for those around you. Very well built/high quality hardware. One reviewer noted that he had difficulty with the kit registering his strikes--I did not have this problem whatsoever and was very surprised how precise it actually is. I can get it to register blast beats and 1/32nd note bass kicks. All parameters including sensitivity can be adjusted, messed with, and saved. Being able to easily play along to your favorite music thru the aux input is nice. I love this kit for what it is--it's for having fun and practicing your time keeping.

The sd500 is a disappointment. It cannot play two quick strikes on the drum head as separate hits, meaning that you cannot produce fast rolls or even hit the kick pedal twice fast. Also the dynamics are reduced to two different sounds, a quiet tap or a loud whack, with nothing in between. I'm a novice drummer at best but if the set cannot keep up with my hands it's not really helpful for practicing on.
