Italeri 1:72 - NATO Pilots & Ground Crew

From the research I did into this product, it seemed all indications were that the figures were moulded in polystyrene (i.e. hard plastic) rather than vinyl, which would mean they were easier to paint, modify etc.However, this is not the case - they are moulded in vinyl (i.e. softer, pliable plastic) so they are more difficult to paint, and can't be modified using standard modelling techniques.Also, don't be misled by the box art - none of the poses shown on the box are represented by the figures in the box; a couple are similar (the crouching deck crew in the centre of the picture) but none of the rest are anything like what is in the box.Having said that, the moulding quality is generally very good, although there is some flash in places which will have to be trimmed with a very sharp knife (in my experience, nothing else works on vinyl).

After trying a few others, I found this is far and away the best set of figures to adapt as sailors on my 1/72nd scale warship models. The mouldings are excellent, and about three quarters of them can be modified to serve as sailors.
