Was looking for some good corn to make popcorn at home. This seemed highly reviewed and I've heard American corn is the best. It's very consistent, and the kernels are a lighter white rather than yellow. They pop consistently in a pan and taste great. My method: heat some oil, preferably a high smoking point oil in a deep sauté pan with a lid, be fairly generous, 3 or 4 tablespoons, drop 2 kernels in and heat until they pop on a medium high heat. Take off the gas and add half a cup of kernels, shake around to coat them in the oil and leave off the gas for a minute so they warm up in the pan. Put them back on the gas, cover and wait, once they start popping turn the gas down a little.

It still has a good tenderness to it, just with a bit more bite, which actually works well if you like a fuller, more substantial piece of popcorn. Flavor is clean and straightforward. It takes butter and seasoning really well without getting soggy, and it doesn’t have that processed aftertaste you sometimes get with store brands. After multiple batches, it’s been consistent—no off flavors or uneven popping. It also pops efficiently. There are still a few unpopped kernels at the bottom, but nothing out of the ordinary for this size. Overall yield is good. Compared to the smaller “baby white” kernels, this one feels a little more traditional in both size and texture, so it really comes down to preference. One thing I noticed after a few uses—you can dial in your method easily with this. Once you find the right heat and timing, it produces very consistent results. For the price, it’s a great value, especially for a 6 lb bag. It lasts a while and gives you a higher-quality popcorn than most store options. If you like classic popcorn with a bit more substance while still keeping a clean, natural taste, this is a strong choice.

Soft and tasty. Almost all the kernels pop so you need to back off on your portion. I definitely recommend this purchase.
