Works great- make sure to disable power management
I have this paired up with the 10G port of my Verizon router and Cat 7a cable. It works beautifully, and usually is running around 2.5G speeds, which is about what I expected with spinning hard drives. The link speed is indeed 5G. Be sure to go in to Device Manager after installing this and go to the power management tab, and turn off the "allow the computer to power off this device" or whatever it is. Otherwise it'll get shut off when the connection is idle. I have a Plex server and found out that hard way when I wasn't home that Windows shuts it off by default.

Works great for my laptop
Works great for my laptop. I can get about 2.3Gbps network speed on my 2.5Gbps LAN. Way faster than WiFi when I want to transfer a lot of data or the WiFi is sketch. I haven't tested it up to 5Gbps (don't have a network that fast). Just make sure you have a fast enough USB-C port to take advantage of it.

Plug and Play on MacBook Pro
Worked at full speed on my MacBook Pro with no driver installation needed. Just plug it in and it works. Stable connection and solid performance. Very convenient adapter.

Does not work on all PCs
Worked on my laptop but not on the desktop I was going to use it for

Works pretty well, but you need Realtek's latest drivers
Seems to work, mostly. The stock drivers are outdated, and cause it to disconnect after a few minutes of sustained data transfer at 5Gbe speeds. Luckily, this can be fixed by getting the newer drivers directly from Realtek, but you shouldn't be expected to go through this, and it still seems to have moments where the speed drops during sustained transfers, but it recovers itself without intervention after updating the driver. Overall, a good value for the money

Because Wi-Fi Isn’t Always the Hero We Deserve
If you’ve ever stared at your laptop and thought, “Wow, you’re sleek, modern, and completely useless without Wi-Fi,” this little adapter is your redemption arc. The WAVLINK 5G USB-C to Ethernet Adapter does exactly what it promises: it gives your laptop a wired connection like it’s 2005, but faster. Plug it in, and suddenly you’re living that low-latency life—no drivers, no drama, just pure, unfiltered internet. Pros: Turns your laptop into a responsible adult that doesn’t rely on flaky Wi-Fi. Speeds so fast you’ll wonder if your ISP is lying to you (spoiler: they probably are). Compact enough to lose in your bag, which is the ultimate sign of good design. Cons: Doesn’t come with an Ethernet cable, because apparently, we’re all supposed to have one lying around like it’s a family heirloom. Makes you question why laptops ditched Ethernet ports in the first place. Bottom line: If you want stability without sacrificing speed, this adapter is the unsung hero your laptop didn’t know it needed. Five stars, because it works, and in tech, that’s basically a miracle.

Don't buy this adapter.
I upgraded my ISP last year to 5gb. After installation was only was only getting 500mb. The install tech said to buy an USB to 5GB adapter. I bought this one. After I installed it I attempted speed test to verify higher speed and it crashed out and disconnected. It only got worse with time it would go down randomly and I would have to restart adapter. My wife works from home and would knocks her of her VPN causing issues during work day. I tried to update drivers then only way to fix was restart PC. I bought cable master brand hoping for better luck this time.

Works great as advertised
Excellent adapter. While I don't have a 5gb network, I'm getting great transfer speeds on my 1gb network

Unlike many 2.5GbE adapters, I get the full speed with this adapter with my M4 Mac Mini (rather than download being less than upload). I was apprehensive as this is a Realtek chipset too, but it seems to perform correctly at each speed level (1G / 2.5G). I don't any devices at 5G to confirm how it performs at that speed. But this satisfies my needs at least.

Currently I'm only using this with a 2.5Gbps switch, but it was detected by my Windows 11 laptop instantly and reaches those speeds easily. I look forward to upgrading my switch so I can take advantage of full 5Gbps bandwidth to my NAS. I like the heavy-duty construction so I can throw this in my laptop bag and not worry about it breaking.
