Needed for those binders that require the larger holes.

OK, it would be too strong to say that this product changed my life, but it certainly has made me very happy. I have oodles of records I'm trying to organize and my standard three-hold punch was adequate for the job, but the resulting standard size holes (9/32 inch) made it difficult to move pages back and forth over the rings in the three hole binders I've been using.Enter this lovely heavy duty 11/32" three hole punch. Bliss! I can punch more pages at one time and the pages easily glide into the three rings of the binders. Heaven! I can't believe I waited this long.

this thing came with a busted box but looked ok till I tried to adjust the punches for a standard 3 hole / 3 ring binder. the craftsmanship is awful; the punches grind & bind when punching paper. adjustment was ridiculous and I'm sure some people got a good version but I got the one that people keep returning. And the delivery was 2 days late and I needed this last week. Very Very Very unhappy with whoever made this and sent it to me in a plastic bag, no less - it arrived with a buss-up inner box. I have already hit the return button and it will be going back first thing tomorrow.

With 3-hole punches, there are three typical hole sizes:- 9/32: Most common, the black Swingline in your junk drawer, small holes- 11/32: This item, mid size holes- 13/32: Large holes.The small hole punch usually handles a few sheets of paper, and the hole size is small enough that the paper binds on the rings in a typical binder.The large holes are just too large for most usesThe mid-size 13/32 hole size is the best for 3-ring binders. They are easier to move across the rings This binder is the mid-size hole. I like the hole size. I like the quantity of sheets that you can get through. I usually go 10 to 20 depending on the paper. Resist the temptation to go 40.Also, I like the handle - it fits well in your hand and is not so long as to tip the device when pressing into it.The machining on the device, however, is very poor in comparison to the $62 price tag. The actuating device is not a fine finish, and in fact you can cut yourself on it if not careful. The depressors do not have a smooth fit inside the holes that they poke through. So there is a noticeable click/clunk that occurs when you let up on the handle. I've noticed this in two other types that I've used over the last 20 years. Surely this can be remedied with finer machining.The back-stops for the paper to rest against are attached in the most clumsy fashion. There is a large screw head and a notch for a large flat-head screw driver. This screw and the nut attaching to it appear out of place. The nut is an odd shape and spins while tightening the screw. The nut looks like it could come through the metal bottom. The screw is cheap metal and chrome plated and flakes easily.The backstop bracket has visual notches on it. But there is no purpose of these, as they don't align to anything. Even then, the notches are large, and wouldn't permit a fine placement of the holes in the margin of the paper. The factory setting for the back stop is far too short, causing the hole to be too close to the edge of the paper, and would easily tear. An adjustment was needed and it was difficult. One has to use a large screw driver on the top and an adjustable wrench on the nut in order to loosen the screw, then adjust the back stop, then tighten the screw. None of this, from a human factors standpoint, made any sense.The tray upon which the paper rests tapers so that when pushing the paper up against the back stop, pushes up at an angle. I didn't find this to be a useful design.The bottom guide moves up and down far too easily. It is held in place by a tight metal bracket under the device. It is subject to easy misalignment, so must be taped into position.The holes in the paper are rough punched. Finer machining would provide a more crisp and professional looking hole.In summary, I would not purchase this item for $62. It has a worth of about half that. Or, for $62, I would have expected much finer machine work.

Do you ever get frustrated with pages in a binder that get stuck on the rings? Me too--and that's why this hole punch gets an "I love it" rating. That 11/32 inch hole moves freely on the rings, taking all the frustration out of setting up and using looseleaf binders. The product is heavy, very solid in construction, with sharp cutting edges on the punches. It can be adjusted easily, yet the punches stay in position and don't slide around. It may appear a bit expensive, but I think it will stand up to all the use and abuse we can give it at my office.Thanks, Amazon for carrying it--it is hard to find the larger size punches in office supply stores.

It seems to work quite well. I'm not sure how many sheets it will do at a time though.

You know how the pages get stuck when trying to flip pages in a large binder? Who knew but enlarged holes are the answer. I can't believe that the "standard hole punch" isn't the enlarged size.....I never need the smaller holes and always enjoy the larger holes.... These 3 hole punch units are quite difficult to find.... not sure why that is.

Purchased this punch for the larger hole size - even with only 2 sheets of paper, the holes do not punch all the way through. Returned for refund.
