Wedding Classics - Violin Play-Along
I own several of these Hal Leonard violin collections and usually am a big fan. Here, however, I would agree with another reviewer that the backing tracks to this collection are of average quality only. I'm not sure that any of them are suitable for public performance. The recording quality is poorer leaving the string performances sounding relatively dull and lifeless.Honestly, the arrangements of these songs really aren't that pretty, either. I know that's subjective, but wedding music should sound, well, pretty. None of the demos could even hope to compete with the many other beautiful arrangements and performances of this same material out on the market. So, I'm kind of wondering why this collection was made in the first place. The backing tracks aren't for public performance, yet, they're wedding tunes. What else is there?Hal Leonard has another collection called "Light Masterworks" that features Canon in D with an actual performance quality backing track, btw. The arrangement is properly measured in tempo and frankly just easy on the ear, as Canon in D should be.

There are a few really good songs
I didn't buy this because of it's "wedding" classification. I bought it because it has a couple of really good songs to learn, practice and play along too. They are good versions of the music, the play along is realistic and they offer enough challenge to keep them interesting. This, so far, is my favorite play along book. I admit that I haven't played a couple of the bridal songs at all, so I can't judge them.

Average Overall Quality but Good for Practice
Best Song Versions: "Ave Maria" & "Air on the G String"Least Favorable Song Versions: "Canon in D" & "Ode to Joy"This Play-along book is good practice for beginner/intermediate players. The production quality is fair, however I would not recommend using the backing tracks for performances done by more advanced players with the exception of "Ave Maria" & "Air on the G String". The tempo of "Canon in D" is fairly brisk and the version of "Ode to Joy" sounds a bit brassy & harsh. Great tempo on "Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring" and the two traditional wedding songs.

Good arrangements
These are great arrangements of pop wedding/ love songs. Requires at least level 2.5, medium difficulty.
