The whole experience from trying iHome out to sending it back to Amazon was a disappointment.Received the speaker pretty promptly and had very positive initial impression after I unpacked it: it does look very nice and sleek and everything is of very good physical quality. Absolutely loved the way the speaker docks to the charging station: no fiddly connectors, just put it onto a small charging "brick" and that's it. The positive experience ended at this point though, and physical quality is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1.Connecting to my wireless network was a bit of a struggle. I followed the connection procedure to the letter several times, but it just didn't not work at all. I then downloaded the iHome Connect for iPhone and tried using it to set up the wireless connection, but no luck again. Turned out that somehow it doesn't like the fact that my WiFi network name was not broadcasted, even though I manually entered correct network details, which has always worked for every other device I have ever connected to my network. Everything worked after I changed WiFi settings on the router to make the network visible.iTunes recognized iHome but could not play back to it at first, until I restarted the speaker. After that, there was no problem connecting to the speaker and no pauses or connection drops other people reported.The first track I played back brought a lot of disappointment. The sound was crackling at some frequencies as if the speaker was faulty or it has some digital processing problem. I tried a few other tracks, tried sending music from another computer and from iPod, both over air and by cable, but experienced the same very problem. Again, this only seemed to be happening at some frequencies so I haven't been experiencing this all the time, but often enough to render the speaker useless. But even when it sounded ok, the sound was "flat" and far from what I was expecting after reading the other reviews. It actually sounded like a louder and just slightly "fuller" version of my simple USB speakers. And yes, I turned on the "sound enhancer"; without it, the speaker sounded just like my build-in laptop speakers.I wrote iHome support describing the problem and asking their advice on whether I could do something at all in case that was a digital processing problem (reset some internal settings, etc), but never ever received any reply (and it's been several weeks now).So in the end I packed it up and sent back to Amazon. I'm in Ireland so posting it back costed me just over 46 euro at the local post office, as the box weighs about 5kg. Amazon processed the return promptly and refunded the full cost of the speaker plus 3.42 for postage... Why 3.42? That's what I asked Amazon, but never received any reply. They do specify that they refund up to 7 pounds in postage (which most people find out about only when returning something), but 3.42 euro?!The end result is that I lost about 43 euro on a faulty item. I don't want to deal with iHome again and would be very cautious purchasing heavy items from Amazon. The latter has never failed me before though, but then I have never returned anything back to them before.

I have had no problems with this product. Great sound quality with no drop outs. I have a strong wireless network which I think helps. I can imagine if you were too far from the wireless router there would be drop out issues but that is a problem with the network as opposed to the actual product.

Airplay does not work on this device... I tried 4 times reseting the device, each time using different methods. I had no luck and my device still does not work via Airplay. I have sent it back for a refund as it does not fulfil its original purpose.

I really like this speaker. It was easy to set up with the Ihome set app from the App Store. Its stylish and has a good base sound. It does sometimes drop the wi-fi connection but comes back on almost immediately. This I think is due to the network rather than a fault with the speaker.

The sound is better than I'd expected and definitely out performs what you'd expect from a speaker of this size--especially given that it also contains batteries. The firmware/operation is temperamental. If you're prepared to restart it now and then, and forgive the fact that it needs some attention from time to time, it's a great addition to a home setup. It does seem to need a good wifi signal to work, and some of the buttons on the back have yet to do anything. Perhaps when the firmware is updated, it could be worthy of a recommendation.

Absolutely brill, sounds amazing. Bought as a Xmas pressie on my recommendation, so glad I got it. I use it all the time.

I must say that I did fall in love with this speaker from reviews and the main feature I wanted of AirPlay.The design is excellent, very sleek and easy to use and the touch buttons are responsive.Unfortunately after owning this speaker for a while I am having to admit defeat. The AirPlay feature is the worst I have come across since converting to Apple and investing in AirPlay devices. The unit will constantly drop the signal and therefore lose connection to your device over AirPlay. None of my other AirPlay devices experience any problems on my network with my Airport Extreme but this device refuses to work. Very temperamental and unreliable. I can get F1 at over 3hours non stop on an Apple TV via AirPlay from my iPad, but with only audio to my iHome from my iPad it will drop out after a couple of songs even though both are on the same network and located (in this test) the same location. Doesn't have any kind of reliability and the reset time is a pain if you are using this away from the power dock.No updates have rectified the problem and their support was very poor.Wired however and the use of the internal battery I would recommend as the unit performed very well indeed. Hopefully mine was part of a bad batch??Unfortunately I cannot recommend as AirPlay is supposed to give you wireless integration but with this unit I have to use mostly wired.

Cette petite enceinte Airplay' a tout pour elle: Un design attrayant, mobile, autonome, puissante et un son bien détaillé.Son design est plaisant avec une ceinture chromée à la base de l'enceinte et une interface tactile assez réactive sur le dessus. La télécommande, plus classique est efficace et a une assez bonne porté.La connexion au réseau Wifi se fait assez simplement et l'envoi d'une musique peut se faire même en veille.Le socle de recharge est petit et vien s'enficher sous l'enceinte, il reste donc invisible une fois l'enceinte posée dessus.L'autonomie hors charge est satisfaisante (plusieurs heures d'écoute).L'enceinte est en revanche assez lourde en raison des batteries et d'une qualité de fabrication assez élevée.Le son est à la hauteur du design, puissance et détail sont au rendez-vous malgré un volume restreint.Un bon achat a un prix raisonnable, cet iW1 est réellement le chainon manquant des périphériques Airplay'PS: un cable USB/iPhone est aussi fourni qui permet d'utiliser l'enceinte comme un dock classique et ainsi de recharger votre iPhone/iPod/iPad.PPS : le chargeur est vendu avec des adaptateurs pour les différents type de prises murales, vous pourrez donc emmener votre iW1 dans le monde entier

Lange mussten wir warten, nun ist er endlich da: Der erste tragbare Airplay-Lautsprecher. Die Einrichtung funktionierte bei mir sowohl über iPhone 4 als auch über WLAN reibungslos. Nach einigen Tagen Benutzung kann ich auch keine ernsten Verbindungsprobleme feststellen. Nach einem Verbindungsabbruch verbindet sich der iW1 direkt wieder mit dem Netzwerk, allerdings kann das mal 20 Sekunden dauern. Selbst in entlegenen Räumen, in denen unsere über die FritzBox betriebenen DECT-Telefone nicht mehr funktionieren, läuft der iW1 noch hervorragend.Zum Setup: An der FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 im Keller läuft alles zusammen. Im OG leistet ein Fritz Repeater seine Dienste. Zwar halbiert der den Datendurchsatz, das ist aber für den iW1 kein Problem. Die von anderen Rezensenten kritisierten Verbindungsprobleme hatte ich bisher nicht. Alles reibungslos. Sowohl vom iPad als auch vom iPhone oder vom Mac selbst lässt sich der Lautsprecher wie bei Airplay gewohnt ansteuern. Besonders schön klappt das mit der iTunes Remote App für das iPad, eben genau so wie beim AppleTV.Ich bin kein Klangfetischst, finde den Klang der kleinen tragbaren Box aber wirklich angenehm und ausgewogen. Höhen wie Tiefen kommen klar und kräftig rüber. Natürlich ist es kein High-End-Lautsprecher, für die Größe schlägt sich der Kleine aber beachtlich. Die mitgelieferte Fernbedienung ist m.E. überflüssig - Fernbedienungen, die man nicht oder selten braucht, gehen in unserem Haushalt immer verloren und finden sich nach Jahren hinter irgendwelchen alten Schinken im Bücherregal wieder. Also gleich im Karton gelassen.Die Bedienung erfolgt über einfache Symbole, u.a. kann die Lautstärke direkt am Gerät geregelt werden. Einzig der dünne schwarze Bezug hätte fast zu einem Abzug geführt. Bei einem mobilen Gerät ist das sicherlich nicht das beste Material, wobei es dem Klang sicher eher zugute kommt.Fazit: Wer Airplay einsetzt wird seine Freude am Gerät haben. Das es leicht tragbar und wiederaufladbar ist macht es zu einem Allrounder im Haus oder größeren Wohnungen. Würde ich wieder kaufen.

Einen gut klingenden, gut designeten und dann noch fehlerfrei funktionierenden Airplay-Lautsprecher zu finden, ist eine Wissenschaft. Das musste ich im Vorfeld bei meiner Suche im Web leider feststellen. Nun viel meine Wahl trotz teilweiser Negativ-Bewertungen auf die iW1, weil ich vom Design und Preis überzeugt war.Der Lautsprecher kam ordentlich verpackt mit Ladegerät, Fernbedienung und Anleitungen bei mir an. Nach dem Auspacken hat sich der Eindruck zum Design von den Bildern bestätigt. Auch das Gewicht der Box beeindruckt, nicht zu leicht, aber noch tragbar. Durch die schwarze Stoffbespannung integriert sich der Lautsprecher gut und unauffällig neben anderen bestehenden Boxen gleicher Farbe.Die Installation über die App ist denkbar einfach und ging schnell von der Hand. So konnte ich bereits nach 30 Minuten (die meiste Zeit verbrauchte ich beim Auspacken) den Klang testen. Die erste Ernüchterung folgte. Bei dieser Preisklasse (UVP 299,00 Euro) sollte man doch wenigsten etwas Bass erwarten können, schließlich liefert der SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker von Bose bei gleicher UVP einen absolut überzeugenden Klang. Doch weit gefehlt. Im Hoch- und Mitteltonbereich ok, beim Tieftonbereich passt der Klang nur, wenn man wenige Zentimeter neben der Box steht.Also scheint der Preis weniger dem Klang geschuldet als vielmehr dem Airplay-Feature, so mein Gedanke. Erstaunlicherweise unterstützt die Box, obwohl nirgends erwähnt, das Aufwachen aus dem Standby, wenn Signale über ein iOS Gerät gesendet werden. Für mich eine der wichtigsten Airplay Funktionen, da ich die Box nach dem Aufstellen eigentlich nicht mehr von Hand bedienen möchte, andernfalls könnte ich auch gleich wieder Bluetooth verwenden. Leider schaltet der iW1 umgekehrt nicht wieder selbst in den Standby, wenn längere Zeit keine Signale mehr gesendet werden.Doch das alleine wäre noch kein Beinbruch, schließlich gibt es ja noch die Fernbedienung. Doch die Verbindung zum WLAN ist höchst instabil. Mehrmals täglich musste ich die Box selbst am Hauptschalter Aus- und wieder Einschalten, um Airplay wieder nutzen zu können. Aus unerklärlichen Gründen verlor der iW1 dabei auch im Standby teilweise die Verbindung, später war er dann trotz Standby wieder ansteuerbar. Und zu meinem Erstaunen reichte eine Akkuladung bei üppigen 10 Minuten Musik hören und 12 Stunden Standby nicht bis zum nächsten Morgen. Ich musste die Box wieder auf die Ladestation stellen. Scheinbar wird durch die permanenten Verbindungsversuche, auch im Standby, der Akku leer gesaugt. Das ist absolut nicht zufriedenstellend.Und auch ein kleiner Designmangel darf nicht unerwähnt bleiben: Das Leuchten der Schalter oben auf der iW1 kann in dunklen Räumen über Nacht durchaus stören. Denn auch im Standby leuchtet die LED des Powerknopfes permanent und dimmt dabei auch noch von Hell auf Dunkel und zurück.Leider sind diese Mängel in Summe nicht hinnehmbar, weswegen die Suche nach dem "Richtigen" nun wieder von vorn beginnt!

De mon côté, il a été impossible de le configurer et de l'accrocher à mon réseau sans utiliser l'application pour mobile.Régulièrement, sans raison, il perd la configuration et faut tout recommencer.Sinon, son plutôt correct et belle autonomie !
