Sturdy, Convenient, Utilitarian
Update: going on nearly a week of daily use and have had no issues at all! Also, I found a way to avoid putting stress on the hinge and extending itโs life. If you hold the case upright with the hinge edge on a flat surface, and then pull down by the keyboard to lay it flat, this reduces the strain on the magnetic clips so the iPad wonโt pop out. Putting a little bit of WD-40 on each metal hinge also helped A LOT. The small โglobeโ button on the function key row doesnโt seem to do anything on the home-screen of iPadOS. Iโm pretty sure itโs supposed to pull up a browser like Safari or Chrome. HOWEVER, I have found that it pulls up the emoji keyboard when typing!! So technically this keyboard does have a dedicated emoji button! Iโve only used it for a week at this point, but I love this thing! I purchased this fully knowing the issues with the hinge breaking after a short amount of time, but at $100, this is fine. I love how sturdy everything is, everything being fully encased in solid rubber. I LOVE the holder for the Apple Pencil being laid into the keyboard itself, although it does rattle around a little bit. Also, when the case is detached from the keyboard, technically you can magnetically attach the Apple Pencil to the case on the bottom side, just like with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil! The keyboard is great, although the keys are a little click-y for my taste. Itโs so cool how there are 7 colors to choose from for the keyboard backlight, and 3 levels of brightness. The keyboard doesnโt have the โinstant-onโ feature like others as it is Bluetooth based which naturally makes it turn on slower, however, I didnโt find the extra 1 to 2 seconds annoying. I have not found the typing experience to be laggy and have not lost connection (yet). I love how the keyboard charges via USB C! I was fully expecting micro USB so that was a happy addition. The only issue I have to complain about is the level of effort to put the iPad itself into the detachable case. There are two extended lips on the case where it attaches to the keyboard that the iPad has to clear for it to snap into, and I honestly thought I was going to crack the screen trying to snap it in. Additionally, the case is so tight around the iPad (not necessarily a bad thing), that a screen protector would probably get messed up when inserting (unless it was one of those softer film-like screen protectors). Also, the headphone jack and lightning cable port covers donโt lock into the case at all, so they will start to poke out of the case after many times pulling them out to charge/use headphones. This case hits 99% of all my requirements for the BEST iPad case ever. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect would be a hinge stand on the back of the detachable case like the Logitech Combo Touch case for watching media or taking notes without the keyboard attached. Also, if they made this exact keyboard case for the 12.9 inch iPad or any of the newer models, I would throw my money at Zagg.

This is our 4th one for all our different ipad sizes weve owened and their great!
Sorry about the photo. It was the only way to take the picture. My family has been buying these Zaag Ruggard Book Keyboards with the covers for as long as I remember us buying Apple products. I remember it started with my first iPad and as some people have said these are very tight to get into the holder which is true. So with the first one, I was so frustrated my 5-year-old grandson was bugging me the whole time to try to do it and I'm thinking well you have to think outside the box. Within minutes he had it in without a struggle. He didn't look at the directions which explicitly say to make sure to put in the top first. My grandson put in the bottom first and worked his way around to the top. From then on we knew each one would be an issue and we would just follow what my grandson had done. The pairing is easy, even if you have two things, or in the case; of me, I had my phone, this, and my headphones all at once. The typing experience is great. A nice soft touch yet you know youโve hit your key. It offers you backlit keys at night if you choose. I love this feature because when my husband goes to bed is when I do my best writting. The weight of the Rugged book is just that. Like carrying around a nice size hard covered book. But with rubber all around the edges. It really is good for klutzes like myself. I don't feel it's heavy at all. My only issue as always is the life of these which is about 3 to 4 years if you are lucky. Then if you're buying the Insurance which I do just in case, you're looking at $50.00 per year. Iโve wasted time and money buying and returning those other little less โinvolved and fancyโ keyboards and know what they obvioudly cost up front. I never buy any Insurance on them but Zagg I know for a fact is well worth it; Zaag is a great company. Their Customer Service is friendly and helpful and I love (as does my whole family) all their keyboards for the difference. size ipads. you won't be disappointed with a Zaag.

Terrible โ sorry to say
Over a number of years, I have had several Zagg rugged books and have been very satisfied with them, even though if you Google for Best keyboards for iPads, they do not appear in the top products. Because I do a lot of work lying in bed with back problems I use my iPad a lot. I like the Zagg because the hinge can be positioned at any angle whatsoever and will stay put in that position. Several months ago, I acquired a new one, but had to return it because it seemed to have a mind of its own and would place periods in almost every sentence you typed, even though you had not hit the period key. The problem was so bad that I had to return the keyboard. Thinking that this was hopefully just an individual lemon keyboard, I returned it to Amazon and somewhat reluctantly ordered another one, hoping that the second one would be problem-free. Unfortunately, the second one arrived and proved to have the exact same problemโฆ plus even more problems. Needless to say, I had to return this one also. I can only conclude, sorry to say, that this latest generation of Zagg rugged books is simply defective. My new one is a highly rated Logitech and works perfectly, but lacks the adjustable hinge of the Zagg. Hopefully, Zagg will get this problem corrected. After my Logitech eventually wears out I will try a Zagg one more time and hope for the best.

It just WORKS!
My older (10.5โ) iPad is running out of options for a keyboard/case. Bought a few cheaper โrotatyโ style cases, minimal protection but they worked great for a while, then the hinge broke the case and it was always past the warranty. When the last one went in less than a month, I opted for something better. Read the mostly positive reviews on this guy. Bit the bullet and grabbed it. Well, the Zagg is WELL BUILT!!! Itโs now past 90 days and itโs still solid as a rock! I found I miss a dedicated โScreen Grabโ key, but I can get around that. My ONLY disappointment is I miss having a trackpad, but I can see and understand why itโs not offered, and itโs not a deal breaker. Keyboard battery life seems quite reasonable. Others commented on keyboard failures after 6 months or so, I guess Iโll find out. But until then, I am beyond happy with this case. Would I buy another? In a heartbeat! UPDATE - 4 months in and it WAS holding up quite well, occasionally missing a space bar click, but nothing horrible. Today the iPad was left on the roof of the car and subsequently ended up on the ground, in the road and lost! Discovered it missing at home and went crazy. Found that someone had picked it up and was wondering what to do. I got the iPad back with just some minor scratches on the Zagg case! Well done to Zagg for the awesome protection of my iPad! The keyboard wasnโt quite as fortunate, the hinge is now one dimensional! The stylus is now truly one dimensional! Another Zagg is on order, with pleasure!

Rugged
Rugged and well made. Instant blue tooth pairing. Disappointed that it will not hold the iPad vertically. Otherwise, great product.

Very Good Rugged Cases
Really good rugged cases with good customer service. Just be sure to keep your receipt as the keyboards failing periodically can happen (but thatโs that uncommon for any aftermarket iPad case/ keyboard covers). Theyโre usually pretty generous with warranty replacements, as long as you have your receipt.

Great Keyboard Case! Very useful.
Very nice case/keyboard!! The keys have a nice click, the response time is very fast so it keeps up as you type, it connects quickly, and makes it easy to do work that involves typing or even just mounting it up so that i donโt have to hold it in my hand the whole time. Youโd think your tablet is an Ipad.

Good in concept, fails the test of time
I've had this product for a few years and was initially quite pleased with it. The ergonomics of the keyboard are excellent and I like using the stand, particularly for watching videos. The case is very sturdy, and I have confidence that on the infrequent occasions that I drop my iPad i won't do damage to it. However, over time the weight of the case (without the keyboard) has become annoying to me. More importantly, the hinge is too tight and the connection point with the iPad too small, so trying to fold/unfold the keyboard more often than not detaches the iPad. This seems like a basic design flaw. If I can't unfold the keyboard, I can't use it. I'm looking for a replacement.

Great protection
This is my second one - the first lasted close on 5 years to the day! I use it daily and tend to be a bit rough with stuff and this is brilliant- only reason for one less star is new design is a bit different and I prefer the old one - the keyboard is slightly different so Iโm still adjusting. Highly recommend this product.

The Perfect Case
I'm in love <3 This is THE best case I've ever had. Funny story: I had a Zagg ruggedfolio for my iPad Air 1. It lasted beautifully for about 4 years until I spilled water all over the keys like a dummy. After that I could not afford a new one, so I bought some no-name keyboard case to use. Within 6 months, 3 of the keys had rubbed off, it was skipping numbers and letters and was just generally horrible. So when I got sick of that crap I dished out for a new Rugged Book. Needless to say, I LOVE this case with a passion!!! So durable, heavy but worth it for the amount this keyboard does, and all-around awesome! I like it so much I told my uncle about it and he got one for his iPad too. Love <3 <3 <3
