Simple, Effective Way to Combat Algae and Keep Pool Water Crystal Clear
Pool Perfect + Phosfree is an excellent product for keeping your pool water crystal clear with minimal work. The Pool Perfect formula contains enzymes to break down non-living organic waste, such as suntan lotion and body oils, and the Phosfree formula removes phosphates, which are a food source for algae. Once this food source is removed, algae cannot grow in your pool. This combination helps maintain water clarity, reduces the need for other chemicals, and simplifies pool maintenance. The two best things about this product are that IT WORKS and it's SIMPLE to apply. Just once a week, use the cap to measure out the correct amount based on your pool size as specified on the label, pour it directly into the skimmer, and you're done! Easy peasy.

Unexpected but great results
Our new pool is going on it's third season. Every year we have battled green algae despite near perfect chemistry. Part of the issue may have been Scentrific lemon scented chlorine tabs that the pool store started us with since the Cyanuric acid was always on the high end and climbing and as a result our chlorine levels had to be high and I started using liquid chlorine nightly and shocked more. We were still vacuuming green algae off the pool bottom weekly. At the end of the season we closed the pool ourselves. The chemistry was good and the water was just finally clear again. We only shocked with liquid chlorine and covered, nothing else. Upon opening this season in early June the water was slightly cloudy but not green, a good start. This year I went to a different store to test the water and it revealed high Phosphates something the other store didn't even test for. This turned me onto this product although I should have bought the other to lower the phosphates first. Since starting this product and despite fertilizer splashing in and trees dropping pollen and seed pods constantly; we haven't seen a hint of algae despite water temps in the 80s. It's still early but I have already spent a fraction of the time vacuuming and trying to keep chemistry and water clarity right in the first month. It's the first time since owning the pool we have had crystal clear water more than a day or two. Full disclosure I also made one other change and that was a switch to Chlorine Tabs purchased at Sam's club. I had done that at the end of last year but didn't notice a difference. This year my CYA has stayed low but our Chlorine level has stayed high with the chlorinator on its lowest setting. It seems to me the tabs are dissolving slower and keeping the chlorine up=using less cholorine. This prompted me to check on this products supposed uses and reviews more closely and found many people have the same experience. I have used zero algaecide, zero clarifier, and only added liquid chlorine to shock the pool once to knock down the total combined chlorine which will always be required. I haven't had to use anything else and other than 3 capfuls to start I only added 1 to 2 capfuls 2 weeks after the initial (not weekly as I should) and things are still going well. I admit it's not scientific since 2 changes overlap but I am very happy with the results this product has seemingly provided. Unless those other Cholorine tabs that were replaced last season were the absolute worst you could buy (same active ingredient percentage) and I just didnt give them enough time or this stuff really works, or both. Definitely worth the price for the season for one bottle especially since i don't need the other products and seem to be using half the cholorine. I do think it adds a smell to the water. Its slight but it makes me think of chemicals which I try to reduce my family's exposure to. I use less than recommended until I have a problem.

Great product if phosphates are a problem
I had a problem maintaing the chlorine level prior to this - ph level was fine, clear water. It was actually that discussion that led the pool supply place to suspect phosphates to be our problem. Testing our water did show our phosphate level to be high. Additionally, We were also having a problem with water bugs - so annoying, they pinch, too, and as soon as they see you coming to fish them out they dive down deep. Couldn't figure out how to get rid of them. Local pool supply gave some suggestions, but aside from shocking the pool which would kill off some, they would hatch again. After the phosphate result, he did recommend treating our water but waiting until the end of the season because it's messy - all the phosphates sink as a white powder to the bottom of the pool and requires lots of vacuuming. Hmmmm....that didn't happen the one summer we used Phosfree (which the new pool place doesn't carry or know about). I ordered this product and viola - my chlorine levels started remaining stable and as a bonus - the water bugs disappeared! I believe these phosphates helped provide a food supply to them. We live in the middle of farm fields and only use a solar cover which allows for lots of debris, dirt, probably fertilizers, etc.. to get in our pool. This product makes the maintenance so much easier. It helps keep our other chemicals in better working order, too. Simple application in the skimmer once a week. I periodically backwash our pool to rid of debris getting collected in the sand filter - It will come out cloudy as milk at first and then I'll turn it off when it runs clear. I let the rain refill our pool, but during dry spells will use our hose if a few inches are needed. This product is a key to maintaing our clear, stable, bug free water. Highly recommend.

If the algae keeps coming back even using pool shock or algaecide, you need this
I went a few years with no issues but then starting getting a lot of algae. I didn't understand why as I would test my chlorine and pH every 2 days and have Pinch as Penny do a more complete test twice per month. All my numbers were in balance (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizer, calcium hardness, TDS, etc). So I tried an algaecide first but that was a band-aid, then tried the shock method, where you spike your chlorine for several days and scrub the wall daily. That did the trick...so I thought. In a week or two, the algae would come right back (mostly green and yellow). The pool guy at the store insisted that I was not shocking enough, like I was the idiot. He told me I had to do it weekly. The problem is that the chlorine level would be too high for most of the week to swim in and I was going through a ton of chlorine. Plus, the upkeep was becoming a PITA. I finally met up with a pool inspector and told him what was happening. He said, "I bet you have high phosphates". He told me to buy a phosphate remover and if the water immediately starts to get cloudy, that's phosphate. Sure enough, it turned cloudy right away. Running my pump non-stop for about 3 days cleared everything up. The pressure on my pool filter spiked due to the trapped phosphates, so I cleaned the filter and the pressure went back to normal. So zoom forward 2 years later, I know have crystal clear water and use a lot less chlorine and no algaecides. Too keep my phosphates at near zero, I use this product as a preventative and shock the pool only about once per month. If you already have a phosphate issue, I would use a dedicated phosphate remover, then use this as a maintenance.

I've been using this product for 10? years and have NEVER had an algae bloom since I started using it. Next to water, this is the most important thing I put in my pool, I also use it in my hot tub. Great product!

Not the product in the Picture!!
We received a product that was not the one in the picture. Very deceiving. I was able to return it. I contacted the manufacturer and the product in the picture is different than the one I received. I would have re-ordered but I no idea how to make sure I receive the correct product.
