I LOVE this book
I have a hard time not wanting to give this five stars. I LOVE this book, I truly do, and I wanted my hubby to be able to read it too. He drives a lot and so audio is the best way to go. He was thinking Matt Damon? Cool!- We love his movies, BUT apparently poor Matt can't read with inflection to save his life. My husband has a very hard time staying focused on the narrative of the deadening voice. Sorry Matt, as picky as you can be in directing and acting, etc. .. you apparently are not so hot as a narrator.

It reveals a view of history that is at best ignored and at worst
Quite simply, this is a narrative that everyone should want to listen to or read. It reveals a view of history that is at best ignored and at worst, actively suppressed. I listen in my car on the way to and from work. It is informative and easy to listen to.

Howard Zinn's take on American history is always valuable and always fascinating, but the audio version of this book omits more than half of the print version (the first half which is the most interesting, IMO). I wish that I had scrutinized this more carefully before I made the purchase.

Disappointing
A historian should attempt to deliver a balanced record of past events, I feel Mr Zinn fails to do this.
