A wonderful look at the 10 Commandments
This work is dated, but offers a wonderful look into the 10 Commandments. It is great for a discussion group as it explores these timeless norms for community.

A very powerful book
The bold lettering of C.S. Lewis's name at the bottom of this book drew me to it (no doubt this is what the publishers had in mind) but if the old bait and switch routine is what it took to get me to read the book, then I am glad for it. Simply put, Joy Davidman examines the 10 commandments in such a powerful way that I feel as if I had a magnifying mirror held up to my own face so that I could judge my own conduct in light of it's wisdom. I devoured this book on a flight out to the coast and then I read the whole thing again on the way back home. Make no mistake, this is not a book of condemnation but it is a way for the reader to examine ways in which they may be violating those commandments without even realizing that they are doing it. This is a postive book and it reminds the reader that a Christian life is meant to be a joyful one. I hope the next edition that comes out increases the font size of the name JOY DAVIDMAN.

Petite Scholar
For C. S. Lewis fans, this book written by his wife is a must read. She presents a clear and scholarly explanation of the Ten Commandments from the background of her Jewish heritage. Impressive that she, too, was an atheist before accepting Jesus as Savior. Just like Jack. Smoke on the Mountain: An Interpretation of the Ten Commandments

I'm only half way through this but I would recommend the book. This book is old but always relevant.

No smoke obscuring the view here.
An American, Jew, communist, physically abused, writer, poet, Christian, who died young as the wife of C S Lewis who writes about the Ten Commandments in terms of her days and apparently ours as well.

Thought provoking!
Joy Davidman is so often overlooked as a writer, theologian and incredibly clever woman - defined as Mrs CS Lewis she deserves recognition in her own right

Life-affirming Christian morality.
A brilliant book written with verve and clarity matching that of C.S.Lewis himself. It teems with the life-affirming zest of true Christian morality. Christopher Campling.l
