Overall reliable and gets the job done
I am pleased with this product. It gets the job done, and I'm able to charge my phone at the same time. Sometimes while I'm streaming and rewind the movie, I'll get a slight lag with audio syncing to picture, but I'm not sure it's caused by this product, and if I roll back or pause the movie again it will sync back up. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes it takes a moment to detect my device and I'll get a "no signal" indication from the tv until it figures it out, and most other times it detects it right away. I also try to be careful about not bumping the cable, as sometimes it will lose the picture, but it always comes back. The other day I noticed a small white line flickering at the bottom of the movie I was watching when there were dark and low light scenes. I'm not sure how much of that had to do with the cable getting bumped or something else. It's not completely perfect, but it has been overall reliable, even when my 2 year old toddler investigates it. I would recommend this product, because it hasn't failed so far after about a month. I am using an older View Sonic flat screen tv that only goes up to 480p I think, it's about 8 years old. The phone I'm using is an LG G4.If you found this review helpful, please click the “helpful” button

My SP1004 was unstable. With a HDMI shielded cable, works fine, but apparently only 720 HD
The SP1004 unit that I received is faulty. It transmits video with its audio, but every 3 or 4 minutes the signal is lost for a few seconds and then the transmission recovers. So the device is basically useless to do what I intend to do which is turning my LG G3 into a media center for videos. The representative from (Demandport? or Analogix) says that:"To ensure you have a genuine Analogix Slimport SP1004, there are several conditions that must be met, among others:- The adapter itself must have "Full HD" printed on it.- The packaging must indicate that it is an SP1004."And that: "Demandport is the sole distributor of original Slimport products."My SP1004 unit complies with the conditions of being "authentic" because it has "Full HD" and "SP1004" printed, and because I indeed bought the device from Demandport. And in spite of that, I got a defective adapter.I'm located outside the U.S., so for me, returning the unit is actually more expensive than buying another one from scratch! So I'm bound to try a lucky shot by buying another SP1004 from Demandport, and I expect that this time the unit will be OK and just work flawlessly. If the second one also comes faulty, I expect a full refund for both units, or at least two SP1004 devices that work perfectly, no matter if I have to spend even more money sending the devices to the location in the U.S.Update for 2017: Fortunately, I did not threw away my unit because recently, I decided to give it a try just out of frustration. And... surprise! It worked and wasn't unstable! The radical difference was that this time I used a top quality hdmi cable, which is probably shielded inside. It turns out that the device connected to my LG G3 is very sensitive to electric noise. One additional comment: The quality of the transmitted image appears to be 720HD. I was expecting full HD (1920x1080) because the LG G3 phone has a 2K screen. Can anyone clarify what's the actual definition of the transmitted video?

Perfect for Big screen Gaming
Works really well with no flickering or other bugs!I purchased two other Slimport Adapters and they did not work! One was the official Analogix Sp-1002 model and I could not get it to work reliably. Flickering and other nonsense occurred when hooking up to the T.V. Same thing happened with a VicTsing off brand adapter I bought. I use an early model Nexus 4 phone for my review. This is definitely the Adapter you want to buy if you want to have issue free HDMI mirroring.I have played Sonic 2 (remake) on my T.V. screen and it looks beautiful! There is a tiny bit of input lag with the mirroring, but it is not extremely noticeable. It feels like it's slower by a few milliseconds. Probably not noticeable in most games, but in high paced games like Sonic, it's apparent but doesn't detract from the game too much. The aspect ratio is not perfect due to the Nexus 4 having a display resolution of 15:9, but there are ways around that with a rooted device. Having an incorrect aspect ratio causes the screen not to fill out completely horizontally. Comment below if you want to know how to get the correct aspect ratio. For those of you planning on using a capture card to capture footage using this, you will be sorely disappointed. The HDCP encryption on the device is active at all times. You will not be able to capture footage because of that. I won't knock off points for that because it is a very uncommon use case.My phone typically lasts about two hours while wirelessly charging with this device. I haven't tried it with a regular charger yet, but you you should get a longer charge from a wall charger. Battery drain without a charger is insane so I would definitely recommend charging it while you mirror your device's screen.Overall I would recommend this device for mirroring your display for gaming. If you plan on doing simple things like watching online videos I would suggest a ChromeCast. If only for the sake of saving your precious battery life.

Works Well With Compatible Phones and Tablets.
Works great with my LG G3.You just plug the Slimport connector into the phones charging port, connect the HDMI cable from the HDTV (1080p max) into the Slimport HDMI slot and away you go, no software needed on the phone and what you see on the phone screen is what you see on the TV screen.Shows films/TV well and you can play games through it no problem. My G3 has rubbish battery life, especially playing games, and the Slimport has an spare micro USB port for charging the phone if needed. The Slimport does feel slightly flimsy and fragile (which is why only gave 4 stars) but will work great if you have a compatible phone and details of compatible phones/tablets are listed on the Slimport website - [...]The screen did go blank on the TV once while I was playing a game via a bluetooth controller but I may of knocked the phone accidentally and the lead could of come loose from the charging port, I just gently wiggled the lead and the screen came back on.

Does what it sets out to do, potential software issues mar experience.
Works well with the Nexus 7 (2013). Not flawless however, this may be down to software however as it's not a common use of a tablet. Mostly it mirrors the screen, but with VLC it pushes out video on the secondary screen and has only playback controls on the device screen which is very good...until it decides to go wrong, necessitating restarts of app, sometimes even the device. As I said, this may point only to VLC, but it may be a Slimport issue as you can tell it takes a toll on the tablet to push out two images. Still, as far as convenience goes, it's excellent. It does what it says it will and allows easy sharing of your device's screen, just be sure to check compatibility. The wire on the end seems a little fragile so something to be wary of.

You get what you pay for
Priior to buying this original unit, I tried the cheap Chinese copies.I bought not one, but three. One was faulty, rattling inside, the other two failed pretty quickly. The 'original / official' SlimPort worked flawlessly. ...for two years almost to the day.I have today ordered a new one. Far more expensive than the Chinese copies but then at least it works.5* quality, 3* durability, 2* value for an overal 3* rating. Don't waste your time and money on copies.
