Good guards for my figure skates
Good guard, gel purple color look just as shown in pictures. Fits my womens size 8 figure skates perfectly without having to trim the size of the guards. Took a star off because the assembly instructions are a little unclear and difficult, the sizing differences of the curves are subtle so it was hard to distingish front from back in the drawing of the instructions, but once the springs are screwed in tightly, the guards have a sturdy stretch for easy on and off on various sizes (it seems anything smaller than a womans 7, the guards would have to be trimmed a bit before assembly for proper fit). Just a reminder for those that dont know the difference between blade guards and blade covers: Guards are hard for you to walk on. You put these on while you are walking around on your boots while off the rink to not mess up the blade. Blade covers which are a softer fabric material (mine are terry cloth) are for storage. After a day of skating wipe your blades down to remove moisture and avoid rust. Put you covers on the blade and store your skates resting assured that the blades arent snagging on anything while stored and transported. Dont used guards for storage because they can trap moisture on blades which can cause to rust.

Great, fun product!
These are great guards if you know what to expect! In my experience, they do change color--I leave them next to the entrance to the ice, and they change from blue when I leave to green when I return. The color change is subtle, though, especially under the lights. They do come in two pieces and you will have to trim the hard plastic to fit the blades, especially shorter blades. I used an exacto knife to mark the spot where I wanted to cut, and then a combination of various other knives to actually saw through. I think if you have a utility knife, it shouldn't be too hard--I got the job done with an old kitchen knife. The guards come with a small insert telling you where to cut based on blade size, but I looked through some YouTube videos before just measuring, marking, and cutting myself. After stressing about it for a long time, I realized it doesn't matter if there's a small gap between the pieces, because it will still elevate and protect the blade when you're walking on concrete. I do store my skates in Soakers-esque products (absorbent cloth around the blade), though, as I've heard (but not experienced) that storing blades in hard guards can trap moisture and lead to rust.Overall, I've found these guards to be durable and great for a beginner like me!

A fun twist on your standard skate guards
These are your standard two-piece, nothing too fancy about them skate guards that I have been using in various colors since I began in the sport of figure skating in the mid 1990's. I enjoyed the color change feature of these guards - although occasionally I forget that they will be a different color after a few sessions than they were when I first put them on the boards each day! They are fairly easy to cut and assemble once you are used to the process of doing so (I recommend a sharp, heavy knife to cut them to size, and to have the end of the springs that the screws go through facing to be as close to the guard as possible), and they have held up quite well so far.If you are an ice dancer with dance blades on your skate, please be advised that you will need to cut one side of these guards down to match the shorter end in order to use them with your skates - otherwise the long side will hit the heel of your boot and not stay put or overhang the toe and make it more difficult to walk in the guards. Synchro skaters with synchro blades would also have this issue - anything with that short heel means that these guards will require a little bit of (fairly quick and easy with a sharp knife) modification. While the new Rockerz guards are very popular, these have worked best for me with ice dance blades and I will continue to use them for many years to come!

great but with a few considerations
Hard to put together but we finally figured it out. For me, being a size 10 women's shoe, these have about a 1 inch gap between the two sides for each blade, which makes them not work as well when I'm walking because they move around and almost come off. Overall, I'm glad I got them but I would warn future adult buyers with large feet like me, that they won't work as well for your size. Also, as other reviewers have said, the instructions for putting them together are horrible, haha; very hard to figure out for someone who's never seen how it's done and has not mechanical sense like me. And also, which was already said by an awesome reviewer too, remember to clean and dry your blades before putting these covers on... I didn't read the reviews on this product and I put my covers on directly after skating without cleaning the blades off because that's what I saw other skaters doing and it rusted my blades badly. Apparently my blades are not stainless steal.Anywhoo, overall cute blade covers that help out and are good to use, but with the above caveats.

) because the plastic is sturdy. Once assembled
As with other reviewers I would say that the instructions could be clearer. Make sure you have access to something stronger than scissors or an X-Acto knife (which will do the job, at the expense of the knife itself...) because the plastic is sturdy. Once assembled, however, they fit nicely and provide the protection necessary while walking on non-rubberized ground. Be sure not to store your skates in these though - soakers are for storage after wiping the blade - they cushion in transit and help absorb any "sweat" the blade produces once back to ambient temperature.

Check the size
Good. But it is not proper to kids skate.

Amazing
They were great! Easy to assemble ( you need a Phillips screw driver) and provided great protection. They also fit perfectly on my skates.

It does it purpose
My daughter loves it! We are in the rinks for 2 hours already but it’s still more of pink. We forgot it in the rink for two days then we finally see it in purple. Works great.

Basic guard
This is a basic guard, not the very best, but very decent. They came as ordered and will work, just not sure how long they will last.

They are a fine product but I didn't realize they would promote rusting
They are a fine product but I didn't realize they would promote rusting. But any guard that is not a soft material will do that.
