Direct Protect Plus flea & tick treatment for dogs offers an effective and convenient way to keep your dog protected from pests. This topical treatment contains fipronil and s-methoprene, the same active ingredients found in the leading national brand. It is effective at killing adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice and mosquitoes, and importantly breaks the flea and tick life cycle by killing flea eggs, flea larvae and pupae before they hatch. Direct Protect Plus protects your pets from fleas and ticks for a full 30 days and kills brown Dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks and deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease. Application is easy, just squeeze this spot treatment onto your dog's skin between the shoulder blades. Direct Protect Plus works on dogs 8-week and older, and ranging from 45 to 88 pounds; It is long-lasting and waterproof, offering continuous protection even after a bath, a dip in the pool, or after being exposed to rain and weather.

So far so good
I've been trying out different brands for a couple of years and this is the one that I've stuck with for over a year now (I just wish they made one for cats!).I've read a lot of reviews and I'd just like to say that there are a couple things that I feel people should keep in mind.1. Every dog is different just like every person is different. Haven't you ever used mosquito repellent that works great on other people but serves as salad dressing for you? If it doesn't work, don't bash it, just don't use it. It might also be helpful for other shoppers to know what kind of dog you have. Hound dog? Herding breed? Guarding breed? These could make a difference in effectiveness.2. Every dog is different. Oh, did I repeat myself? One of 4 dogs I've used this on had a HORRIBLE reaction. Where I put the flea treatment left a god awful sore. The hair fell off there and it oozed. I had to shave and treat the area. However, I've tried multiple different types of flea treatments and flea baths and she seems to have an adverse reaction to everything I try. This was the worse. Am I going to give the product a 1 star review because she had that kind of response? Absolutely not, otherwise many products would get it. (She is a guarding/herding breed mix dog, double coated with no pigmentation around her eyes. No other known health conditions or medical reactions).I've used on 2 GSPs (different breeders, one male, one female) and a pibble (pit bull) with excellent results.Just keep in mind that any time you use chemicals on animal, or even yourself, you are taking a risk that the body says "NOPE!".

Didn't work well and not safe for epileptic dogs.
Used this product on my 62 lbs epileptic pit bull because the vet said that fipronil is safe for dogs with seizure disorders which is not true because she had a cluster of 3 seizures the next day after application (the first time she'd ever had more than one in a day.) Do not use on dogs with idiopathic epilepsy.Additionally, it wasn't even worth the suffering because although slightly reduced, she still had fleas 72 hrs later. Ended up waiting a couple of weeks to monitor (with no difference after the initial period) and now just bathe her and spray her with natural flea repellent frequently. Two stars for slight flea reduction I guess?

Good Product
Pros: it works longer than any topical that I’ve ever used without side effects. I actually use a little less on one of my dogs than indicated because she is on the lower end of the weight perimeters. Costs less than brand names and works as well if not better.Cons: difficult to open and a little awkward. One of my dogs seem to taste it which is a little worrisome

It works
I live in a climate that has seasons including deep freezes in the winter that kill most pests. This product works for my dog. No fleas/ticks in sight. I don't know how it would fare in a climate that is warm all year round and bugs don't disappear in the winter.

product doesnt control fleas
I used this topical according to directions on July 11th.I have a pug that has an allergy to fleas. This product did absolutely nothing to control her fleas. The scratching and biting didnt improve and, during her bath today the fleas were plentiful. I counted 10 that were washed out with the shampoo.Im very disappointed. I would ask for a refund but the return sindow closed July 19th. Figures!

Two days after application the dogs still have fleas
After reading that this should start working within several hours, we were disappointed to see continued and frenzied scratching and digging two days later. I can still see fleas moving on our dogs. Disappointed in this product.

Attracts Ticks, Does NOT Kill
Since using this product on both of my dogs, I have found more ticks on them than before. The ticks do not die either. I have found multiple engorged ticks in both of my dogs a couple of days after using this product. Simply put, this medicine does not work. Look elsewhere.

Does not work
I saw constant fleas after proper use even though my dog was dry and well under the weight required.
