Amazing!
At first I didn't think this was my type of novel. It didn't take long to become immersed in the real history. At age 75, I've been learning so much about the mistreatment of the Native Americans in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, purely by happen stance on my part, through Prime movies and Amazon books, like this one. Now I find I have an insatiable hunger to learn more. This was truly a fascinating read that I couldn't easily put aside...if only to sleep.

Very interesting
The author does a great job fleshing out historical research and accuracy with vibrant characters and detailed war scenes that made my hair stand one end. Lots of heroes and villains here (and some wore Army uniforms).

It's not bad.
I didn't enjoy this book as well as I did the first one. Some of the characters seemed to be remakes of the same characters from the first book, But I did enjoy reading about what happened to the ones that were in the first book and the survivors. And as with the first book, the journals of May Dodd, there were some spots that had me in tears. Especially at the end. And also left me confused. I really didn't feel like you got to know the characters in this book AS WELL AS YOU DID THE ONES IN THE FIRST BOOK. ( sorry caps locked) all in all its a pretty good story.

I love this book.
Direct sequel if One thousand white women. I was so happy to follow my dear friends again. It's heartbreaking but beautiful, dark but hopeful, funny and thought provoking, easy to read and stays with you.

Just as Good as #1
This second book in the "1000 White Women" trilogy is every bit as good as the first. Continuing the story of some survivors of 1000 White Women, Mr Fergus introduces us to the last of the "Brides for Horses" exchange between Native Americans and the historically lying whites. The machinations, the shear evil, of those to whom the "Manifest Destiny" is like The Eastern Star shows once again what happens when the victors write the history. This book shows those occurrences from the unique perspective of a group of women caught in the middle. This is not your typical bang, bang shoot-em-up western, but if you like books set in the old West, this is a must read. I read the first book in the trilogy in one setting and I honored this book by doing the same thing. If there is any doubt, I strongly recommend this book.

Not as good as predecessor
Along the same lines as 1000 White Women and reads well but having two people tell the same story gets a bit boring. Would prefer that they had just one story teller and elaborated further.

Incredible Trilogy
Jim Fergus has created a fictional world based on a nonfictional world. One Thousand White Women, The Vengeance of Mothers, and Strongheart are moving and surprising stories of what might have been.

Very much the same as 1,000 White Women
I absolutely loved 1,000 White Women. I read the book out loud to my husband as we drove out West a few years ago. He enjoyed it, too. It was interesting and very well written. The Vengeance of Mothers is a next chapter in the same story. I believe you need to have read the first book for it to make sense. I grew bored with this one, however. I found it to be so similar to the first book and repetitive within. It, too, was very well written and sensitive, but just too much of one plot.

Fantastic follow up book to the first novel.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone. You would probably be better reading the first novel as this is a follow on from the first. It would take you longer to work out whose who and what had happened before. But it is a really good read, full of facts and information on that time and period of life for women traveling to the Americas for either a better life from what they have left behind or looking for a change of life to get away from something awful that has happened to them from no fault of their own back in the Britain. But please do read it, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could hardly put it down.

Excellent Continuation
I enjoyed the first book, One Thousand White Women, so much that I purchased the next book, The Vengeance of Mothers. I was enthralled with the continuation of the story of white women experiencing life amongst the Cheyenne Indians.

Wonderful
Having read the previous book I looked forward to this sequel. I was not disappointed. Please take time to read about the 1000 White Women and this follow up novel. You will be glad you did.
