Almost great
Over the last 20 years I've been a jobbing bassist, avid bass collector and amateur luthier. Here's my quick review of the J-Ra.... The good: Great hardware and electronics, nice design. Construction for the most part looks good; a nice tight neck pocket, thick rosewood board and a slim Jazz neck profile. The neck feels great, finished in a satin varnish. The Bad: The fret job. Although the fret edges were nicely rounded, I could not get a decent action out of it. It'd need half an hour at a luthier to sort it out. The finish. On the whole, the gloss coat looks good, nice and even and flat, but the clear coat has been buffed off on the sharp edges of the neck pocket and someone's slipped with the sander on the headstock tip. Oops. It has the makings of a really excellent jazz bass, but it's let down a little by the final finishing.
