This product is so useful for the purpose for which I need it - as a salt shaker - that I would normally give it a 5. Here in Kerala it is so humid that salt cakes up immediately in shakers, and it is hard to find them with holes/outlets big enough to dispense it. At this point (early on, though, don't know if it will rust, often think stainless screens do), the salt is coming out perfectly.I had to take a star off because of the stupid plastic lid. A lid is essential, without it the salt would become a wet lump. But this lid is airtight and completely flush with the shaker part, so that it is almost impossible to remove it. This is such an obvious and dumb design flaw (it is as if no one at the designer/manufacturer actually picked one up and looked at it or used it), that it is a real problem. I ended up taking a pair of scissors to it and cutting the plastic about half way up myself so that it could be opened without risking life or limb by try to pry it off with a knife before use every time.So buy it but be prepared to do plastic surgery (sorry, couldn't resist.)
