Lastolite LL LR2050 20-Inch Ezybalance Card (Grey/White)

I bought this WELL ahead of time for the job I'd need it for because I know I already love the product. I've had to use other people's on several occasions. They depend on it for getting FANTASTIC color. Canon's new C series camera's screens make everything look a little too blue, but in post the color could be perfect. Relying on the naked eye, with those screens, I've had several projects looking yellow. This gray card was exactly what I needed.I take it on my first job and the plastic rim inside either cracked or came unglued and now because of a 30 day return policy, I'm stuck. Didn't even get a day's use out of it.I wrote Lastolite's website and have heard nothing back from them, and I can't find any help through any of Amazon's return advice. Don't know what to do about it. Needless to say, this sucks. I just wanna know if I have no other choice but to buy a brand new one and eat the cost or if someone's actually going to do something about the fact that I got a lemon, I got it through Amazon and I'd REALLY like a replacement that I don't have to pay for.I took it out. I folded it up. I put it away. It broke.

I actually have a color meter (Minolta), but this little gem actually works better in most scenarios.It folds down into a super compact size, and expands into a size easy enough to fill your viewfinder. Using a Canon 7D, I just shoot a still image of this card, and tell the white balance function to use the image for color balance. Easy, fast, and perfect results every time.Don't fix it in post...shoot it right the first time. How much is your time worth, anyway?

I think it's a bit pricey but that being said, I use it on every shoot and it's radically reduced the time I spend correcting color in post production. When I buy one again I'll probably see if they have a bigger one. That would be easier to use at a distance. I wish the focusing target was a little more pronounced.

20" cards are good for balancing ultra-wide lenses. They are hard to carry around every day, but they are great for hired jobs where you bring an equipment bag. I have used the Lastolite balancing cards for about 6 years and I have various sizes. They always give me accurate light balancing without any problems. They fold down nicely and should last for at least 10 years even with frequent use.

I have messed around with grey cards and expo discs for years. I shoot raw and fix it in post. But sometimes, it's darn near impossible to get the colors looking right. I wish I would have bought this sooner. Get at least the 20 inch one so you can easily fill the screen. Expo disc works great for ambient light. But if you're using strobes and ambient, the Ezybalance is the bomb.

Solves the problem getting a white white background or white white features. Camera adjustments and white lighting and white photo boxes did not work for me, no matter what I did white was either blue, yellow, gray or green. This item solved the problem and was easy to use, once I got my camera adjusted properly.

Lastolite card works nicely to produce custom white balance, the only thing that kind of bothers me is when it opens up it is not flat. I am not sure if I got the defective one or all of them are like that.

I've always used an Expodisk for color balance, but wanted to try a target. I used it a few times on actual jobs and found that if I was using my own available lighting, the Expodisk was easier and had better color results. It seems fine for natural light situations, but I wish it produced a warmer color.

I’ve had several Lastolite light products over the years but the quality is not as good and I wondered if I’d been sent fake products.1. Grey card surface.I’ve not tested the grey side but it looks ok.2. ‘White’ surface. I wanted a grey card that also had a white side that could double up as a small reflector. However, despite being described as white, this card is most definitely ‘cream’. See photos - and compare the surface to the white material it is stitched to. How good this is for white balance use, I’m not sure as I’ve only used grey cards before.3. It’s twisted! Every pop-up reflector I’ve had opens fully and lays flat. This one does not. I returned my first reflector and this replacement is still twisted - but not as bad. All lastolite media ( video and photo) show a beautifully flat grey card. If I was using a model they could pull it flat so as not to create uneven illumination on the grey card - but, I bought this for use in the field. It’ll do - but for this money I’d hoped for better.4. The bag it comes in is dark blue. All media on lastolite website show a bright royal blue - again, making me wonder if this is indeed a genuine Lastolite product.*** UPDATE *** After leaving the grey card unfolded overnight it flattened out. With regular use I’m hoping the annoying twist will disappear. Unfortunately the white dude is still cream, but I wanted it mainly for the grey card anyway.

This product is well made and folds up nicely in a very presentable zipped case which comes with the grey card. I have tested it out with my Nikon D800 and it produces excellent results for custom white balance and it can also be used for getting the correct exposure in your cameras manual setting. I would highly recommend you buy this product if you want professional looking results from your digital camera.

This met my expectations fully. Folds down to a compact easily packed size. Wipe clean if it gets dirty.
