I bought this to use on my sewing machine, which has a plastic housing. The light is very bright and I love how well it illuminates my work area. My only complaint is that it won't stay in place. It comes with two little metal disks you can stick on and hold the light. It does a good job of sticking, but the whole thing rotates out of position if left to its own devices. Fortunately, a well place piece of cord holds it where I need it.

If you want a very bright work light, this is the one for you. I found it too bright during the daylight and absolutely blinding at night when using it on my sewing machine. I walked past the back side of my machine one night while it was on and I felt like I was in a spotlight. I ended up returning it after I found a dimmable option that fit my needs better.

I bought this light to replace a built-in that failed on my bandsaw. The price was right, and it has good reviews. It's perfect for my needs and much better than the light it replaced. It has a bright but soft white light and a flexible gooseneck that is easy to position. The magnetic base is strong and stays in place very well on a vibrating bandsaw. I just ordered another for my drill press. This is an excellent product.

This light works perfect for my hubby who likes to sew, he has macular degeneration, and this light does the job with keeping the light on the needle.
