Great set of books - you may need to check content first
I have a couple of these Usborne sets and I love how they make some of the classics accessible to younger readers. Illustrations are great and on very page. Very good value when you factor in the amount of books for the money. A small gripe is that depending on the combination of sets you buy you end up with duplicate versions of the same books but I just gift those to family.Others have complained that some of the content is inappropriate, depending on the age of the reader you would want to have a look at the books first and remove some of them if you fell they are not ready for some of the themes or illustrations (deaths etc).

Better than expected, great value for money. Excellent items
The books were an absolute joy to receive. I was looking for books for a reasonable to give my class and I was a little worried what they might look on the inside but they are lovely, colourful and the stories are well written. Thank you!

Classic literature made available to young readers and learners
Help children develop a love of reading and literature. Lovely books. Beautiful illustrations. Young readers will want to read them and get a taste for reading widely and independently.

Fantastic. So many stories my kids love them
Fantastic. So many stories my kids love them. I have 1 child with learning problems who can’t read but loves great iliatrations and stories and another child who’s on the spectrum who’s obsessed with facts. There’s such a great mix of stories, fact books and classic stories there’s enough to keep us going for weeks at bed time. Worth every penny

Fab!
These are fab books. I wanted something for my 7 year old boy that he could read on his own but that kept him keen but not too difficult. These are perfect. I had looked on line for ages for something suitable. He has only just started reading on his own and i was afraid of some books being too hard and putting him off. These are perfect!

Good Value but Some Books Were Inappropriate for This Age Group
The set includes 40 titles. The ones with the blue backs are from Series Two and the purple backs are from Series Three.I threw nine of them in the bin because I don't think that they are appropriate for young children. They included stories about ghosts and haunted houses and "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. I want to educate my children, not scare them and give them nightmares. So, I was left with 31 titles that I thought I could use, which is still good value for money. The Series Two collection is probably appropriate for children aged around 6-7 and the Series Three for children around ages 8-9.All the books have pictures on every page and text, there being more text on the Series Three books. They are all around 60 pages in length."Series Two included classics like Robin Hood, Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island" plus Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." There were also some non-fiction books, including "Cars", "Electricity" and "The Olympics".Series Three included classics like "The Three Musketeers,"Oliver Twist" and ""Pride and Prejudice." plus one Shakespeare, "Othello" and one Dickens, "Oliver Twist."Overall, this collection is good value for money but I would rather see more classics and less horror.

Great set of stories
My older child got a few of these from the library when he was 6 or 7. He's now 10 and younger one is 7. They are both advanced readers. These books are too advanced to challenge the 10-year old, but the stories are still good. They are a good level of difficulty as short stories for the 7 year old, although he does read very well. My guess is that age 6 upwards could cope, and they're a safe bet for ages 8 and 9.Great value boxed set

I bought these as gifts for children in my year 2 class.Great to suit different reading abilities.Odd book a bit too scary but I chose carefully and left some out.All the kids loved then and we're super happy that they were personally chosen.
