Not for my ground...
I couldn't get on with these. I gave up in the end as they kept bending. OK, I was trying to lay a tarpaulin, over a 50mm bed of sand, which had been set on a mixture of topsoil and hard-core. But when they hit a stone, they would just bend. In perfect ground conditions, I'm sure they would be fine.

Your hunt for the perfect 6" U-shaped garden securing peg is over
Your hunt for the perfect 6" U-shaped garden securing peg is over.Simply put, if you require a securing solution for your gardening needs, GardenMate has your covered. When I first stumbled across this product on Amazon I thought 'gosh these look rather nice', however,it was not in this moment that I chose to purchase them. One does not simply rush into such a purchase and there were a number of variables to consider, much as you, the reader, are now. Luckily for you, I have extensively tested the product in all possible areas to ensure that your can make the most informed decision today.Packaging:As with all orders from Amazon the garden pegs will come expertly packaged in nicely styled manufacturing packaging that offers the opener satisfaction on par with those unwrapping a new iphone 7. Truly delicious. In addition to the OEM packaging you will find your pegs enveloped in a luxury cardboard sleeve that not only acts as an impenetrable shield to knocks but also serves as a fantastic play toy for those with pet ferrets.Form Factor/QualityGardenMate proudly advertise their product as being 6" in length and they do not disappoint. I hand measured all 100 pegs that I received and can honestly say that I am blown away by GardenMate's attention to detail. The director of QC at GardenMate deserves a heart felt pat on the back for his efforts of late. I am no trained metallurgist but I know a quality metal when I see one. Anyone familiar with the HTC phone series or the new Sony Xperia XZ will understand what companies are able to achieve with metals and GardenMate is right up there with the best.Functionality/ Alt UsesThe GardenMate pegs were originally purchased to secure my artificial grass around the borders of my garden and have done so without fault even with my excitable dog running endless loops and doing things with a tennis ball that we can only dream of. As a side note, any readers out there with dogs, artificial grass is a fantastic buy and transformed my garden from a patchy mess to an oasis that I know my neighbors are jealous of. In fact one of them commented on it the other day but I just played it cool and pretended that it isn't really a big deal. I think that annoyed them.If artificial grass isn't your thing, the pegs can also be used to create a superb miniature croquet set or can be used to refill a giant stapler (not available from Amazon at the time of review).Final ThoughtsIf you have read this far you have wasted valuable time which could have been spent purchasing and enjoying your new GardenMate pegs. The only gripe I had with the product was the quantity. I ended up ordering a second pack of 100 and only used 145 pegs in total to secure my artificial lawn. The other pegs have been put to good use however and I now host a croquet tournament bi-monthly for the local vertically challenged community.

By-product of using this item is it very effectively fertilises your soil...
Huge hidden benefit to your garden soil!OK, so these are strong pins so you won't go wrong there, but they are prone to rusting. When I first realised this, I wondered how I would get on with them. Well, to cut a long story short, I used them on a new flower bed, which was previously uncultivated soil. I did a lot to the planting holes and once the plants were established, I left them to it. Didn't rain much, so not much change, then a deluge. Went out to have a tidy up and low and behold all the plants were growing like crazy, even the 'slow glowing' drought resistant types were more than 3 times the size of when I last saw them? Had to put my thinking cap on and work out what on earth I had got so terrible right out there? Turns out I had pegged down some delicate plants with these pins, because I was cultivating a slope and amazing or what, the pins are actually fertilising the plants? OK, so a quick hunt around of what's going on there is steel with a lot of carbon. Well, steel is basically iron with carbon, then more carbon is added more than likely after that. End result tons of iron and tons of carbon for your darling plants. I'll post a picture when it finally stops raining and I've finished all my work.

Fast delivery.
Used to secure ground protection. Good product, had a problem with one or two buckling when they came into contact with any resistance in the ground, but overall very good.

Not rust proof
Good product, does the job, only issue I found was that after 2 days they have gone rusty, so they are not rust proof, but they do the job of holding down my vegetable betting
