After nearly three decades of whizzing across the videogame landscape, the spiny speedster streaks onto the big screen in this engaging mix of live action and animation. Having breached the barrier into our universe-specifically, small-town Montana-Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) gets the help of a sympathetic cop (James Marsden) in outrunning the pursuing feds and their hired gun, crackpot scientist Dr. Ivo Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally, Neal McDonough also star. 100 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Two-disc set. Review: It was for my middle son as a gift. We were able to see the movie theatre before the pandemic hit. Just to see how much he liked it, as he has autism. We can’t wait till the next chapter of Sonic. Review: I've been waiting for a Sonic movie for a while now and when this one came out this year, it definitely delivered. The story is basic so that the groundwork is easily set for sequels. The revised Sonic design nails being both cool and cute, although I'm not fully satisfied with Ben Schwartz's performance. His take on the character reminds me more of Dewey from the Ducktales reboot when he speaks, as opposed to sounding like Ryan Drummond or Jason Griffith. There was still some great line delivery here and there, but I do hope Ben Schwartz only voices Sonic in the movies and not in any future games. Sonic's character is very kind but also very naïve. The writers intentionally started him back so viewers can watch him grow to be braver in the first movie and the sequels. It was a good call, even if some of the childish things he does during the movie can be considered cringeworthy. He's a kid who will grow out of it. Dr. Robotnik and the other human characters are surprisingly good, although many are at times given poor dialogue to work with. Very obvious advertisements for Zillow and Olive Garden are sprinkled through the movie in very forced segments. Once the character finishes their promotional lines, it's back to the main plot and they speak normally again. I like the police officer and his wife (Donut Lord and Pretzel Lady) and I hope that their characters are expanded upon more in the future. Out of all the human characters, Robotnik and his assistant Agent Stone are the best. The two actors work very well together and remind me of the Robotnik/Snively dynamic from the Archie Sonic comics but in a cool, unique way. I wouldn't mind if Agent Stone replaced Dr. Robotnik's current lackeys in the games, Orbot and Cubot. The soundtrack was nice, and included at least one track from the franchise's large collection of soundtracks. I'm hoping for the sequel they throw it a couple more at the perfect times. Many fans are hoping that Dr.Robotnik/Eggman's theme song E.G.G.M.A.N. will be one of the tracks chosen in the future. People are very excited. The movie has mixed reviews, but as for me and many of my close friends, we absolutely loved it. It's in my top five favorite movies and I can't wait to see more.

This item isn’t a steelbook as indicated in the product description. I try to collect steelbooks as a preference wherever possible and sadly this wasn’t.
