Excellent grinder attachment!
This is a great attachment for the Bosch Universal. I purchased this unit a couple of months ago and didn't have an opportunity to use it until last week. I decided it was cold enough to make chili. So, I pulled a couple of pounds of venison stew meat that I had put away and 5 pieces of bacon slightly frozen to grind. It took longer to pull it out of the box and set it up than it did to grind the meat. It worked perfectly and I didn't notice any gristly parts in the meat. It was excellent ground venison and the chili was great. My wife still talks about how good it was. I would highly recommend this for your Bosch machine. It does a fantastic job of grinding up the meat and the clean-up is easy as well.

Be sure to put the small cross attachment in, facing away from you
Grinds amazingly once it's set up right. The instruction drawings are awful.

Finally, the right one!!
I have to grind a LOT of suet for tallow and meat for sausage. Prior to this, we'd have to invite a couple of guys down for dinner then have them hand grind what I had. They would all be puffing and sweating at the end. With this, I can do it myself. Unfortunately, when I ordered my Bosch Mixer, which BTW I LOVE, the only grinder attachment was for the MUM4. I did not realize they were not compatible, so after spending over $200 for a non-returnable one from Japan, I found out. Still trying to figure out what to do with that one, as I don't have the box. I took it out and put the parts in a drawer as we lack storage space.. :(

Perfect! My husband treats these attachments better than he treats me ;D Just kidding, but seriously, our Bosch is his baby and this came quickly and in great condition.

Love it.
I love that I don't have to buy ANOTHER gadget for my kitchen. It grinds our meats beautifully and have never had a problem with it. We've used it for 7 deer now and love it.

Too much money for the product.
I think for the money I would have been better off buying a separate machine. IT didn’t come with the tubes or discs or any thing besides the chute and blade.

Functional with caveats
This meat grinder does the job although the quality is not up to that of the mixer it is attached to. I've used this grinder on some hundreds of pounds of beef, pork, and chicken. As other reviewers note, meats should be soft-frozen first. Cutting meat in longer strips going with the grain gives the best results. The cutting orientation is counter-intuitive - all other grinders I have used, commercial and otherwise, prefer meat sliced across the grain. The L-Chef grinder produces meat of a less sludgy consistency when fed along-the-grain orientation slices.A strength of this grinder is that there are a wide variety of plates available ranging from 2mm (best for meatballs) to 12 and 13mm for chunky sausages. If you are using a plate with 8mm or larger holes, purchase a 2-blade knife for best cutting results. The optional sausage stuffer is OK. The horns have sharp edges that need rounding off to avoid tearing casings. Stuffing sausages is slow, but if you are only making a few pounds, manageable. The primary drawback of this grinder is the same as with all L'Chef accessories I've used: the build quality is nowhere near that of the mixer itself and the attachment between the grinder and mixer looks like a high-school shop project reject. Calling it insecure would be a compliment. The grinder shakes, wobbles, and jerks in a way that is alarming. It does not give confidence that the mixer itself isn't being torn apart. So far, my mixer is holding up - the Bosch parts are doing their thing.
