So I am planning to buy this alginate for life casting and I was wondering what color would it turn ? Would it still be white ?

When the alginate is fully set it will turn white and stay white. It will progress from a violet color when first mixed to a pink color as it begins to set and then to white upon final setting.

My bag was purchased in mid-late 2017. On the upper left quadrant of the front of my bag, it is stamped with an expiration date of "2021-06" (June of 2021).

You should be able to, this specific alginate is designed for dental use, but I have used all sorts of different materials in it, from gypsum and plaster to plastic casting resins and epoxies
