yes, I installed one on my1989 2.3 OMC it works great and no more dealing with points, nothing else needed works with the regular cap and rotor.

Hi, I use the "CDI Electronics 123-9898-P Johnson/Evinrude Shift Assist Points and Electronic Distributor" which works fine with the Pertronix Ignition.

I recieved my kit today and it only has the plate with the ignitor on it and a plastic sleeve is thats all thats suppose to be in the kit?

Yes that’s all that comes with it pop the point and condenser out and you’ll figure it out from there very easy to install
