Top Notch intro to Ashtanga Yoga by an expert
Review – Ashtanga yoga John Scott“Ashtanga Yoga: The Definitive Step by Step Guide of Dynamic Yoga” by John Scott is an excellent avenue for the novice to begin Ashtanga Yoga. John covers Sun Salutations A and B, the Standing Sequence and the Sitting Sequence in good detail. The instruction is good enough for intermediate students to gain practice form and correct their accumulated errors. The pictures and diagrams are excellent demonstrating the poses very well. The discussion is clear and simply put. There is an introduction in which John tells of his introduction to Ashtanga Yoga by Derrick Ireland. There is a discussion of the 8 arms of Ashtanga Yoga. The Bundha are well described. This book is exactly as the subtitle describes. Each step of the Sun Salutations A and B is explained and shown in excellent, easy to follow detail. Each step of the standing series and the sitting series is explained and shown in excellent, easy – if the practitioner has the strength and balance and flexibility – to follow detail. It is apparent that John believes that one starts with the body one has, and works one's way into the poses over time, i.e months to years, as strength, balance and flexibility develop.John is obviously an accomplished practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga moving very well in the dvd and artfully in the images of the book. There is no talking down, or hushed golf course type whispering going on. This an excellent presentation of an all too often poorly done subject. Other books of equal strength are those by David Swensen. There is a companion dvd of John Scott doing the Primary Series including the Sun Salutations that is also excellent. I would recommend getting both the book and the dvd.

Athanga yogo
c'est un super livre, les postures sont vraiment bien expliquées et les transition entre les postures aussi alors ça simplifie ma compréhension de mon cours de yoga et je pense bien pouvoir progresser plus rapidement suite à ma lecture.
