Great idea. Poor design.
Regretfully I have to echo the reviews critical of the charge life. In fact, mine drained over some 6 months to the point where I cannot charge it at all. For comparison I have the oem plain jane battery (purchased one week before the neat led version) that sat for the same time, and was immediately usable without needing to have the charge topped up. Great idea. Poor execution.

Brilliant Idea
I think that this is an absolutely brilliant idea. It is an ideal light that is plenty bright. It also seems to work good as a replacement battery. Only time will tell if it holds up for any given time. As for now I am pleased.

Boo! I want a refund.
There's a parasitic drain. Even with the light off, this sucker won't hold a charge like the other nextec batteries. AVOID at all cost! This is really sad, because the idea of a quickie light source is brilliant, but the execution by Sears is flawed. This is my second failed one and the last one I'm using. How do I know it's a slow drain? Well it does charge fine and immediately after charging, I can put it in a device and it produces great power, BUT compared to my other Nextec batteries, it won't HOLD a charge more than a few days...even with the light turned off. That tells me I either have been highly unlucky (twice? ...from different batches ~1yr apart?) with getting poorly made Li-Ion OR the circuitry is consuming a small amount of power even while off.UPDATE Oct 2015:Lousy. I'm almost certain it's parasitics. But it won't hold a charge at all at this point. I don't even want to bother with another replacement. It's not worth my time. Stick to the standard battery. I'm really disappointed in Sears.

Buy the standard battery instead
I agree wih Christopher Kucharik's review. I bought one of these directly from Sears and it will not hold a charge for more than a couple of weeks in storage. Whenever I use it I have to charge it first and the charge doesn't last as long as the standard battery without the LED flashlight. I have no problem with the standard battery which retains its charge even after sitting in storage for 6 months or more. Save your money and get a regular LED flashlight if you need one.

Nifty innovation
Like a couple of others I bought this at the brick & mortar Sears. Although the store displayed a price of $34.99, Sears B&M will match prices from Sears.com, where it was priced at $29.99.On to the item: I have to say the LED addition was a handy innovation that again piqued my interest in the Nextec line of Craftsman tools. All the tools I've bought were excellent. The batteries, however, were garbage. One was bad within weeks. Others bad within months, and the charger sometimes couldn't decide whether it was going to charge a battery or it had failed. This battery holds its charge much longer and (so far) seems less prone to failure and general wonkiness on the part of the charger. Not only is the LED a welcome and handy innovation, but it appears Craftsman has improved he quality, components, circuitry or all of the above on the battery itself.

bright light in a small package
bought mine at the local sears. Got a better price @ the bricks and mortar branch. It throws out some light. I actually intended on just getting an extra battery for my impact but grabbed this instead.20% more batter capacity and six LED lights for ten bucks more. Who could go wrong. I actually use my tools on a daily basis. Will update if some dramatic failure happens.
