Forces Sweetheart Ultimate Collection

You can just imagine how the songs by this very sweet voice affected the nation in a terrible period of time. This set of songs by the wonderful Vera Lynn is mesmerizing. I am glad I bought this on a whim.

These selections are great memories from my childhood during WW2. My parents loved them. My Dad was in the merchant marine and made 4 or 5 Atlantic crossings during this time and 2 to India. Even as a youngster I was very proud of my Dad and the service he did for our boys as well as for the forces of other countries , and I take pride today for the service the Merchant Marine performed. I am a Viet vet (Navy Seabees) and remember playing music from this era. Thanks for making this music available . Great memories

This is a very good collection of Vera Lynn's songs and includes all of her best sellers. However, some renditions of the songs, or rather, versions of publications, i.e., earlier or later recordings of her most popular songs were disappointing. As a young boy, most songs I recalled and loved were the recordings with support of the military choral group. Songs such as Yours, We'll Meet Again, and Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover just don't have the punch absent the British military chorus. The recordings, however, are well done. All in all a good value.

Has some really great great songs. I remember a lot of theses songs .

It was nostalgic but also a reminder of what those years meant to a whole generation. As I am a first generation Australian living in the USA my own history is all about that. I grew up in Australia (Sydney) with an English mother and grandmothers and so I heard all of their stories. These CDS bring back all of my early days and how they missed " the old country."

It may have taken a little time, "Anything Good (Great) is Worth Waiting For. Not kidding it is a Great CD!

Unfortunately there is a mistake in the compilation. CDs 1 & 3 are of Vera Lynn. But CD 2 is of Ella Fitzgerald. Ella is good, but Vera is very good. Pat Flanagan
