Grass Tec Soft-Close 863 Face Mount Variable Overlay W/Dowel 02294A-15

I was surprised at how good of a replacement these were for my ca 1983 Grass stamped with "GRASS US. PAT. No. US 4,493,129 AND OTHERS" on the smaller, fixed piece and "G* GRASS AUSTRIA 83-01" on the door-mounted larger piece.This is a one-piece nearly drop-in replacement. You'll need new holes in the door (next to the 1-3/8" diameter (35 mm)) routed hole.The assembly came with two Pozi-drive screws which I immediately tossed and replaced with #6-32 machine screws. You could also use flat-head #6 wood screws or #6 flat-head sheet-metal screws. I used Allen-head machine screws so I could put an oversized nylon-insert stainless lock nut on the back of the mounting surface, then a jam nut (thin nut)for extra locking.If you are a DIY-er but not familiar with cabinet hinges, do play around with the adjustment screw on the assembly before mounting, as it can make final adjustment super-easy. The as-received state was fully extended, so you may want to explore the range, which exceeds 1/8" (3 mm).This hinge is much smoother and sturdier than the original, and is an excellent value. It did take a little over two weeks to arrive. Well worth the wait, at least to me.
